Hi, I have a problem in that my Wii has a damaged SD card slot (kids broke a card inside and left a fragment in which then damaged something inside so that it can't read any SD card). Fortunately, it was already softmodded, and is at 3.2E with the HBC and USB loader installed. However, because it can't read off an SD card, is that it now, or can things be installed from a USB flash drive? The HBC looks like it needs an SD card so is it pointless having it now? Also, I would have loved to upgrade to the hacked 4.0 firmware booting Wiiware games from SD but I guess I'm kinda stuck with what I've got.
So any suggestions?
As an aside, is the SD card reader an easy thing to repair/replace?
the ony way is to have the SD slot fix. Specially if you want to upgrade to 4.0? You need some file(apps) to be in the SD slot(IOS60). If the SD slot is broken it does not even make sense to upgrade to 4.0 since the SD loader is the main feature added.
There's a new HBC(1.02) that can load apps from the USB port(FAT32), so you no longer need the SD slot. Not sure how to update the old HBC if you don't have SD slot working.

You could sent it too Nintendo for repair if its under warranty. Just remove all your homebrew
You could just buy a replacement case for the wii - link

are you suggesting the replacement case for the wii has a new SD card reader on it?
My neighbor's in the same boat, but with a wiikey 2. his kids put something in the card slot, which must have damaged the SD card reader.
Homebrew channel 1.03 is installed. didn't seem to be able to find anything on the USB drive connected to it, though. Believe the USB loader channel was just pointing back to the SD card where the USB loader was.
