EUROVOX HELP

Good evening everyone and I come in the hope of getting some info and advice about a eurovox so here goes.
I have been given a eurovox max and do not really know where to start with it.I have put the latest codes in and done a full scan but it doesn,t seem to have found any channels.The LED shows 0000 and the tv screen shows the message channel currently unavailable. I am just after some advice on what to do.The box is for my mother-in-law so I am a litte bit frustrated as I run on a starview and that is hassle free.
Any help and advice would be very much appreciated.

sounds like the box has no firmware on it?has it do you know?

To be honest mate I do not know how to tell.I have always used starview so eurovox is new to me.Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated.
