firmware flash without connectivity kit

I dont have a connectivity kit but want to flash my 360 with mod disc 1.6, can I just use the power from the 360 and hook the sata up to my pci card?

That is what I am doing. I am having trouble getting in mode b but i know that metheod has worked for some people

ok, so I take it you're flashing a hitachi drive? since you're talking about mode b, theres a disc out there that does that, cant remember the name of it though
