Ok, so I think I may have discovered my problem. What I have been doing is holding the drive tray while powering down the xbox to get it to be half open when I turn it on. Should I be manually opening the tray WHILE the xbox is off? Like by turning the drive tray gear with a small screwdriver or something? Or doesn't it make a difference?

I'm asking because I know at least one person said you need to close the drive after powering it on with it half open. BUT, if you hold the tray while powering down, the drive closes automatically when you power the system back on.

I would really like to be sure I'm doing it right before I go and get a via card or one of the internal samsung dvd-rom drives that can read xbox discs.

Hopefully somebody who has gotten Windows to detect the drive can confirm this, and THANK YOU in advance if you reply :)

This is how I do it with a CK3.

Power on drive, eject it.
Pull the power, push it in halfway and power back on the drive.

For a 360 based power, turn on, eject. Pull power plug out of 360. Push half in, plug back up power and turn on.

Did exactly what you said. Nothing. Do you need a specific chipset to be able to read from the drive?

I think I finally figured it out. I flashed xtrm0800.bin and uninstalled daemon-tools, and the drive showed up after a reboot, no problems whatsoever. I'll try installing IX 1.6 again later and see if uninstalling daemon-tools changed anything.

Has there been a successful dump using that firmware yet? I thought I read in another thread that there hasn't...

HERE IS HOW I DO

HOOK DRIVE TO CK3 PRO

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE VIA 3.0 DRIVERS

HOW TO CHECK GO TO C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers

YOU WILL SEE A DRIVER NAMED viamraid.sys file

IF YOU HAVE HERE IS WHAT YOU DO

HOOK UP DRIVE TO 64621 PCI CARD , HOOK POWER UP TO CK3 BUT DONT TURN ON!!

NOW YOU HAVE TO BE FAST ON THIS STEP FOR IT TO WORK I TESTED ON WINDOWS XP HOME DONT KNOW ABOUT VISTA

TURN POWER SWITCH ON THEN PRESS EJECT ON CK3 AS FAST AS YOU CAN

IF IT TOOK YOU SHOULD STILL BE ABLE TO MOVE YOUR MOUSE
IF YOU DID IT TO SLOW YOU WILL FREEZE
TO UN FREEZE TURN OF CK3 AND WAIT FOR YOU MOUSE TO BE MOVEABLE AND TRY AGIN

IF YOU FROZE TURN OFF WAIT FOR MOUSE TO BE MOVABLE ,AND TRY AGIN

IF IT TOOK ( MEANING YOU TURND POWER ON HIT EJECT FAST AND YOUR MOUSE IS STILL MOVABLE NOT FROZE UP
THEN YOUR ALMOST DONE

NOW YOUR DRIVE SHOULD BE OPEN

HIT START/MY COMPUTER/RIGHT CLICK IN BLANK AREA/PROPERTIES
NOW YOU SHOUD SEE A BUNCH OF TABS CLICK HARDWARE
THEN CLICK ON DEVICE MANAGER

AT THIS POINT YOU NEED TO INSERT THE ENABLE 0800.ISO DISC IN TO YOUR OPEN TREY ,(YOU GET ENABLE ISO AT XBINS XTREME 3.2 FW)

ONCE YOU INSERT DISC WAIT 20 SECONDS TILL YOU HEAR DISC SPINNING

NOW IN DEVICE MANAGER ON YOUR SCREEN SCROLL DOWN TO RAID CONTROLERS RIGHT CLICK AND SELECT CHECK FOR HARDWARE CHANGES

TAKES ABOUT FIVE SECONDS IF DONE CORECTLY IT SHOULD SAY DEVICE RECOVERD AT PORT 0 HIT OK

NOW GO TO MY COMPUTER AND YOU SHOULD SEE YOUR X360 DRIVE WITH A LETTER

NOW HIT EJECT

OPEN XBC 2.8 CLICK DOWN ARROW YOU SHOULD SEE YOUR TS-H943A
OR WHAT EVER YOU HAVE

GO TO OPTIONS ON XBC 2.8 SELECT YOUR DRIVE

RUN ALL BACK UPS THROUGH ABGX TO BE ANGLE FIXED AND STEALTH PATCHD

Game ripping programs will need to updated for iXtreme 1.6 0800 mode. Errors when 3-4% into the rip. I've read from other members that a new XBOX Backup Creator is on its way to cater for failed Wave 3 check and 0800 with ix1.6.

Yeah I've heard that too. So I just have my 2nd 360 flashed with xtrm0800.bin, and am just using it to backup games right now.

does anybody know when is the new xbc comming out?
right now this ixtreme 1.6 is useless!! without proper updated software....can someone here tell me what is the big deal of having 1.6 when the only different thing from 1.51 is the stealth/wave checking?? i have a kreon drive and i think that this is no neccesary unless microsoft comes out wih another weird security sector...in the other hand this 1.6 is no even reliable because it has Game exceptions integrated in the fw for games that do not comply with the strict wave checks but are legitimate such as Dance Dance Revolution Universe, Stoked, Ping 17 disk, afro samurai, what abou future releases?? if they are legitimate but the stupid ixtreme 1.6 wont let it boot!!! that means you have to use the activate.iso and u will never know if your game is safe to go on live...The only reason i updated my spare sammy is because i want to c what was the difference....now that i tried to copy a simple 2nd wave game like halo 3... i had to fix it with abgx360 because the ss file wasnt read..now wait for a new release of xbc or another software.. personally dont think this new release is worth the try unless! MC comes out with new stuff to detect stealth copies..please someone tell me if i am wrong.oh! and pardon my english.
