You can't easily brick a Benq. Just erase and reflash in dos.

I wouldn't even do it in dos, I would use DosFlash32 in windows.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Sometimes Windows is the problem. Using dosflash in dos can help eliminate some of the extra variables which could be contributing to the problem.
Of course, we don't know what the op's problem is other than he just needs to save his Benq.

The firmware either works or it doesn't. It's not just going to works every now and then. So you've got a bigger issue going on with your drive. Have you tried reflashing the Benq?

i have tied reflashing several times,
when i try to write OFW, it writes banks 0-7 not 0-4 an then says "error" then "file wrong size" or somethin like that but it is 256kb
when i try to erase it says "erase failed"
and did i mention the drive does not open or close at all

why are you using a thumb drive? Copy the contents to your local drive to elimate that. IF JF is giving you issues, try the xbox 360 mod disc. JF works, just make sure you power cycle your drive to get in the vendor mode.

Just try DosFlash32, if that doesn't work too you might have to mess with the drivers for the sata card, but don't ask me how, I never had to.

First off, are you using 64 or 32 bit windows. If 64 you can hang up JF and I would stay away from flashing in windows altogether. Try using the 360 Mod disc, you haven't tried it from what i read, its worth a shot. Also, when you tried dosflash, were you using dosflash32 or 16? I'd use dosflash 16, which is the one thats used outside of windows, you boot into it, and try to erase with that.

If it flashed successfully, did you read the fw again and see what size it was, and that it had the key?
I can honestly say I've never run into this so I am kind of at a loss. Just trying to rack my brain for potential answers.
But to answer your thread title question, normally, yes they can. Thats why they are considered the easiest to flash, because they are very hard to brick.
But your particular drive, apparently not with ease. I'll keep trying to think of things

Ok, can you send me your OFW? I'll see if I can't figure something out. You might have a bad dump to begin with and thats why its not working right.
So if you can send me your OFW dump, maybe I can get a better idea of whats going on. I'll send you a pm with my e-mail
