Naw, it wouldn't be the laser. Even if it were the laser your pc would still detect the drive.

Is mailing your drive to someone to look at an option?

Yeah, it was attached, let me know if it works. I know the fw was 100% good. As long as the key was dumped good, that fw should work without a hitch.

i flashed in dosflash v1.7

6) 0xED00 SATA PRI MASTER ATAPI No Identify Possible
Flash manufacturerID: 0x00, deviceID: 0x01
Flash Type: SST(25VF040)(serial)
Flash Size: 524288 bytes (512 kb)

and i believe that is wot is on the drive

hi shand

i just bin readin about ur problem and nooooooooooooooooo u dont need a new drive
now u said that wen u try to flash it it says
6) 0xED00 SATA PRI MASTER ATAPI No Identify Possible
thats exactly wot u want it to say and that is why ur xbox drive wont open or close

if u have alread had it on extreme 1.4 and want to flash it to 1.5 there is 2 things u need to do first

1: if u say u have the OFW from the benq drive before u flashed it to
1.4 then u need to reflash it to its original state IE back to the original firmware before any updates

2 now when it is back to its original firmware from when u bought the console go through the process of flashing it to 1.5 like a total refresh flash

wen it gets to the point
6) 0xED00 SATA PRI MASTER ATAPI No Identify Possibl <<<<< it says this because the drive has been erased which is right
now normally you type in
dosflash
then it will ask u to a question with an answer yes or no
type N
then it will ask you to either read erase or write
and normall you would just type W
then it will write the 1.5 firmware as along as u got to this point above (6) 0xED00 SATA PRI MASTER ATAPI No Identify Possibl)

it woz on 1.5 wen it crapped out
an as 4 the ofw, wot method would u recommend i use, because it says "OFW doesn't exist" wen i try to flash in dos even though the ofw is on the usb stick

????????

all u need to do is make sure how the ofw is spelt ie is it in capitals or lowercase or does it have an _ symbol inbetween the letters you need to type it in exactly as it appears in the folder in the dos prompt after you have hit W for write

ie wen i dont mine for my liteon i had to typw

W then enter
Lite_CFW then enter

notice the different case letters

but if you say that you have the ofw is it real did it work have you tested it to see if it the original key from ur original ben q drive

i had same problem with my hitachi drive but hitachi ofw is readily available on the net so i was ok i might have files for ben q is the download that i got i will have a look

PM me if u want so we can exchange messeger addys if u want and maybe we can sort it out for ya its upto u

I don't think a new drive will help. Its a problem with the flash I think. No idea why its giving you this problem.

When you turn the xbox on, does the green power light just flash? Will the drive open? If it won't open or anything, its the FW thats the problem still.

And when using Iprep, correct me if I'm wrong, but when it reads the fw, it makes the hacked firmware with the key it read. If thats the case, it could be reading a bad key and flashing with it.

I'm not sure how, so if anyone can suggest a way to flash with pre-hacked firmware without having to read it, please chime in.

I read on another forum that someone go that error and unplugged and plugged the sata while the xbox was on and it fixed it. Don't know how true this is, sounds fishy to me, but its worth a try.

unplug and pluggin the sata cable in doesn't work mate (tried that one)
wen i turn on my box it flashes the green power light and it hangs on the xbox 360 logo from anythin from 5 to 20 seconds,

an about iprep, you are correct, it reads FW, hacks the FW its jus read then flashes that hacked FW, but if the FW on the drive has already been hacked an iprep is jus rehackin,
could that be my problem?

hey

the reson that u r getting the E64 error is because u have not got anything on the drive try taking sata power cables out and hard drive out and also disconnect the dvd drive and leave it for few minutes the connect it all back up

do u have the key.bin from before u flashed it
if u say u have the key.bin and the ofw i dont see why u r having this problem

ur drive is a benq yes how old is it u might of knacked the drive wen u tried to flash it

so i wud suggest go back into dos and when it asks u to erase it press yes

then type dosflash
then the number of the drive
and erase it again
do this about 5 or 6 time to completely get everything off
dont use iprep to flash it like u sed it does the cfw and sometimes it messes it up dosflash is the easiet way and it does it straight away but u do NEED the correct iextreme 1.51

i DO have the OFW.bin so thats not the problem.
the drive says october 2007 on it so its not new and its not ancient but it was well used.
and as for dos, when i try and erase the drive, i get "erased failed" everytime

the only thing i can think of is 1 the drive is on its way out and is having serious problems or iprep on ur flash disk isnt registering the files properly

are u just sing dosflash or do u have the batch files on there like
fben (flash benq)
dben (read benq)

sorry

when u make the flash disk with iprep you boot up ur pc from the usb flash disk and it brings up a dos prompt well instead of using dosflash

you can type in dben then enter and it will readur drive key inquiry identify and dummy file from ur benq drive but u say u have already got this

so u can type in fben (which means flash benq)
and follow the instructions from there ie

it will aske u to power off the drive then back on and then it will ask u if u want to write the custom firmware to the drive its near enough the same as dosflash but seems to work better for me

so i still have not fixed my benq drive
i DO know that the firmware on the drive is 512kb, i know thats too large but i dont know how it got like that or how to change it,
so is there anyone who knows (other than the above) how to ERASE the drive then FLASH it with the OFW, WITHOUT HAVING TO READ THE OVERSIZED FW FIRST

Not sure how to do that, but at this point, I'd buy a new drive and save myself any more headaches concerning this problem.

You could always try selling it. I'm sure someone would buy it for $10-15 bucks. Maybe they will have better luck with it.

Just a suggestion, but best of luck. Sorry we couldn't help with that problem. Some are just something you need to sit down and tinker with to figure out, which doesn't work through forums.
