Hi,

I've been looking at all the info on installing HBC and yet I am totally consfused so sorry to have to ask the following if its been asked many times before I can't see to find clear answer

My Wii currently has a Wiikey modchip installed and no HBC. I would like to install HBC so that I can use a USB HDD with Wii instead of having backup DVD's.

Currently I'm running 3.4E firmware.

What is the best way to install HBC? Upgrade to 4.0 firmware first or stay on 3.4E?
Then what would be the best step-by-step instructions to use?

Many thanks

You can used Zelda backup games to load the HBC or the bannerbomb..

Follow this guide HERE.

After installing the HBC you will need to follow the 3.4 fix (linked to in the above guide) to install a cIOS for USB Loader to run.

After you do the fix then install cIOS36_rev9 and then use USB Loader.

All of this can be found in the above guide.

bannerbomb no longer needs the zelda,, for the TP hack then yes..

again in 3.4 there's 3 apps/wads to load before you can fully used your hack wii. Once all done if you plan upgrading to 4.0 there's another step that needs to be done (load IOS60).

When doing the hack remove GC memory and GC pads wont hurt but few user has problem if they have them in place when loading the hack.

hmm i have the same questions as OP. But im running 3.2E and i want to use a USB loader.

Should i run an exploit even if i have a mod chip installed? Should the OP and I both follow this exploit guide even with mod chips? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/735325

I have the hbc installed btw. Can i just put a the iso and update on there? Where do we find what we need?

Ok i installed IOS36-64-v1042.wad

All you need to do is install cIOS36_rev9 (I think rev9 is more stable) or rev10. This can be found in the link I gave above.

Then you can use the USB Loader again included in the link I provided above.

thanks larry, i think i got it. I install cioso. But i still can't use hdsd cards right? It seems 4.0 breaks unsigned wads. I dont want to update to 4.0 uninformed. Though it also seems using Waninkokos updater i can downgrade as well.

Havent kept up with all this stuff it gets confusing.

How do i load the games via usb/sd? Do i have to convert to some format?

do you have a USB HDD to use?

If so follow the guide I gave you. Make sure cIOS36_rev9 or 10 is installed. Then you can boot the USB Loader via Homebrew Channel.

Also if you want 4.0 you can again follow the guide I gave above and at the end of the guide it tells you how to go to 4.0 firmware that still lets you install cIOS/WAD files.

Why don't you read the guide and get informed.

If you do it properly everything should be fine.

I have installed tons of WAD's then transfered to SD Card and they all work and installed perfectly fine. As well I have installed a few USB Loader/Forwarders and a few other apps the last few days and haven't had an issue.

Ok so do you recommend this guide to update to 4.0. http://www.yafaze.com/wii/4.0updateguide.html

I used method 2 but I have heard of others bricking the system using method 2. So method 1 would probably be safer. I used method 1 on 3 or 4 other Wii systems and it worked flawlessly.

I don't know if USB Loader 1.5 has force NTSC. You need to force NTSC to get color on the PAL Punch Out game.

The loader (USB Loader GX) which is what I use is HERE and it has force NTSC.

Never had an issue myself.

Did you install cIOS36_rev9 or rev10?

cIOS36_rev9 is more stable. So if your using rev10 I would recomend installing rev9.

Other then that it could be a USB device issue.
