Have you configured your hd settings on tv? It would be easier just to use HDMI. TV should automatically detect.

ya hdmi is the easiest answer you also need to change the settings on the xbox itself

I ran into this problem before when switching from my monitor to my old plasma using vga. If I didn't set the resolution back to what my tv would recognize, the screen would just be black.

Also, what does "wit" stand for? Or are you running a wireless keyboard and your batteries going dead? Because trying to read your post is like trying to understand Don Vito.

Sorry guys im no expert at this.ill try to speak english this time..;).as i tried to mention earlier the guy i got the console from was using a hdmi cable at 1080i,for some reason he said it wouldnt run at 1080p.I myself have a 720p plasma with 1080i compatability.I hoohed it up via hdmi cable but im getting no input signal.i got an av cable from a friend and ran the xbox with that and was ok but wen i moved the switch to hdtv it goes black again.Actually it wont let me go to 60hz mode wen i tried to ply halo 3 with the av cable also.wen i switch to 60 hz the screen is flickerin.Tried it on an old widescreen i have and that runs at 60hz no problem. The tv i have is a phillips 42 plasma, about a year old.Model number is 42PFP5332.Thanks guys..

Did you set your settings on the xbox 360 to run on 1080? Try running it on another tv and change these settings then run it to your hd tv. I wouldn't think that would make the screen be black if it wasn't set up though. Just a suggestion. Do you have another hdmi cord plugged in to the tv. Maybe just try plugging one in so there is only one hdmi source in the tv. Hope this helps.

My friend had a similar problem when hooking his 360 up to his projector. If the 360 is over a year old then i'd suggest getting new av/hd cables. For some reason, on the part that connect to your 360 on the av cable (the toggle between 'tv' and 'hdmi' [or whatever the hd one is]) the hd doesn't work, even on a hd tv (it just goes double screened). He just went out and bought a new $60 hdmi cable (you can get them for like $10 on ebay) and it worked, it may not be the same but that's what i would do first.

Another thing, is the red, white and yellow + green, blue and red connectors all plugged in properly to your plasma

Also, i have no experience with this brand of tv (i usually hook my 360 up to a 3m projector), but try configuring your tv to 1080i, if it's 780p natural then it's likely it will be set on 1080i

Indeed, that's about $57 too much. HDMI is digital so it's been proven time and time again that a ripoff ie expensive HDMI cable performs no differently to a $3 or so cheapy HDMI cable
