The one problem I have ran into, is trying to manually install PortIO. I haven't dug too deep into the problem, but just couldn't find a way to manually install it. If anybody has a work around, please post. But I'm sure you could use DosFlash32 with Win7.

or use the windows xp virtual software that's built into windows 7. that should do the trick for you. and if yours didnt come with it, then you can download the virtual software part and install it manually.

Come talk with us on efnet at #elitemods !!! or just click ME

ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

I thought about that and I do have virtual xp installed but I was wondering what the result would be when it comes to rebooting the computer to unlock the drive. Maybe I should just give it a go. I was just mainly wondering if anyone had tried and what method worked for them before drag this xbox out from the entertainment center and pull the wires out of their nicely wrapped space. I'd hate to take it all apart only to get frustrated and put it back together after having failed.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm using Windows 7 and have PortIO drivers installed. I installed them manually. However, I haven't actually flashed anything yet since installing Win7 and won't until I've figured out how to get rid of the built in drivers for the Via card.

Successfully removed default Win7 Via drivers. Here are the instructions I found helpful.

How did you do the manual install? When you go to add devices, Win7 only wants to detect new hardware.

Click Start and type "hdwwiz" into the search box and you can bring up the same Add Hardware dialogue that's in previous versions of Windows.

I flashed my 360 to 1.6 using Windows 7 (32 bit) using JungleFlasher and it worked just fine.

Thank you. I have WinXP 32 bit, and was wanting to switch over to Win7 but the manual install was keeping me from doing that. For some reason the other hardware wizard only wants to detect new hardware.
