Well, first off i have read the stickies but still im lost. I'm not even sure where to start. All i know is that i got to have a homebrew channel but i dont even know how to access that. But i thought you couldnt mod if you updated to version 3.4. Is this still true? I know you guys are shaking your heads at me but i would be very greatful if someone could give me a clue or atleast a start to what direction i need to go down. Thank you all very much.

You can soft mod on 3.4. You can even soft mod on 4.0 now. It has just gotten more difficult the higher the firmware.
I think the only Wiis that you can't mod on are the 4.0 ones that no hacks have been previously installed on with serial #s starting with LU64. Although I believe that this is kind of random since there supposedly are Wiis with serials starting with LU65 that have worked just fine.
Anyway since you have 3.4 you should start with the Twilight Hack and Homebrew Channel.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Twilight_Hack
http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/
You should read the information on both pages.
However the files that you should be initially be looking to download to get you started are
twilight-hack-v0.1-beta2.zip
and
the_homebrew_channel-1.0.1.tar.gz
from the hackmii site
The Homebrew Channel is pretty much the gateway to allowing you do all that you want to do with Homebrew.

You obviously did NOT read the stickies...
The rules state: "7. Describe your problem specifically -- including the thread topic, because this helps people who are willing to answer to you."
"Can Someone Help a Noob?" is NOT describing your problem...
As well, in the stickies that you apparently read, it gives ALL the info you're asking for...

If you want to run back ups then you still have more stuff to do.
The link that merandom posted has a lot of good information.
And merandom is right you could have gotten a lot of information for the stickies
Anyway
I think where you need to start with is at the point that says:
WARNING: THE OCT 23rd 3.3/3.4 FIX GUIDE THAT IS LINKED BELOW TELLS YOU TO UPDATE TO LATEST FIRMWARE ON THE FIRST STEP. DO NOT UPDATE TO LATEST FIRMWARE. THE LATEST FIRMWARE IS NOW 4.0 FIRMWARE. YOU NEED TO RUN THE FIX GUIDE ON OCT 23rd 3.3 or 3.4 FIRMWARE.
OCT 23rd 3.3/3.4 Fix Guide is HERE.
Click that link that says here.
That guide is slightly out dated though because it says cIOS fix but it should still work. IOS16 is still vulnerable in 3.4 you can just update the cIOS to the later revision afterward.
As for DVDs, the Wii likes DVD-R better than DVD+R
Burn using imgburn at 4x speed.

Edit: This 1 post every 3 minutes thing that I have to deal with here is ridiculous. How many posts until I'm not a newbie anymore?

IOS16 isn't vulnerable in 4.0 so you should start with where it says 4.0 firmware users. It will take you to another site with a guide.

YaY!
And check out the USB loader when you get a chance.
It is very handy and loads much faster than the backup launcher which is locked to 3x speed.

Pretty much all are.
Only dual layered Wii game is Super Smash Bros. Brawl
I think there is some situation with Brothers is Arms as well but I can't quite remembered what it is whether it's 1 dual layered disc, or 2 discs, or 1 disc in a certain region and 2 discs in another.
You probably don't care about that game anyway :)
There is a DVD5 version of Brawl but I don't really know anything about it other than that the cut scenes from the Sub Space Emissary have been removed.
Finally when I dumped my original Brawl to my hard drive using the USB loader is was 6.93 GB.
Edit: And thanks for indirectly helping me get my post count up, though I am still a newbie and can only post once every 3 minutes.
Though I still would have said everything that I said in the same exact way even if it wasn't increasing my posts.
How many posts do I have to have until I'm not a newbie anymore?

It's a little strange. I made my account in 2005 and by "default" I read more than I post. However there are certain times when I just get the urge to post a lot.
I also was on here a bit more when I was working with PS2 modding.
But yeah, thanks again for the posting opportunity.
Haha, no one can accuse me of spamming.
