HI,
i can flash drives on my main pc fine so i know how it all works, but i am wondering what i need to be able to do it on my laptop?

i have
- xtractor CK
- external mains powered plug to molex (from and old HDD that powers the xtractor fine)
- E-Sata to Sata cable


my laptop has a E-Sata which i hopefully can use.
i read that the E-Sata had something to do with USB on this laptop but not sure what it means, but the internal sata uses ich9m chipset (i dont have access to internal) .

its a HP Pavilion DV6T 16" US version

do i need to buy anything extra or can i do it with what i have? if not what would i need to buy?

There isn't really anything else you would need. I don't think it's possible to flash with external sata, but there's no harm in trying it with what you've got. There won't be any sata inside the laptop to access, it's not the same as a Desktop. But you can try it, and see if it works for ya.

good luck finding a via 6421 PCMIA card for a laptop. many people have asked where to get one, and i have never heard of anyone finding a place to buy them.

i can get the pcmia card.

my laptop is express card 54 and i dont think they do via 6421 on that platform.

my laptop had e-sata built in which hopefully will work but i have a feeling it wont :(
