If you want you can try following this guide HERE and install cIOSCorp which will let you boot from disc channel.
Thanks for the reply!

I'd like to just get rid of it then, because when my girlfriend goes to play it, she may get confused as to why it in the disc channel, but not working.

So, 2 questions I guess, how do I undo what was done here? (I don't like having arbitrary data taking up valuable and limited space :p), and why could I see games in the Disc Channel to begin with, if this guide doesn't cover that?

cIOS is a custom IOS (this is used to launch and run Wiigator/USB Loaders etc. etc.). It is not an offical Nintendo IOS that is why it is a custom IOS.

IOS60Patch patches the IOS60 so you can use Homebrew and other features of the offical IOS60.

Nintnedo has blocked VC/WiiWare games from being launched via the SD Channel if you install them with a WAD Manager. The IOS60 patch patches this so you can launch the VC/WiiWare game from the SD Channel no matter if you download it from shop channel or install them via WAD manager.

cIOS36 versions and cIOS38 version can install over each other. I have cIOS38_rev12 in the guide becuase as stated above the 13 and 13b has bugs and rev12 is more stable.

god damn it i f***** up. I was trying to install cIOS60patch but I couldn't find cIOS249, only 254. I assumed this was because I was still on 3.4. So I updated to 4.0. Now the HBC doesn't even work.

I had bootmii on boot2, tried to restore to 3.4, but it gives me error reading nand.bin

When I try to boot right into HBC from bootmii, it gives me a black screen, and my wiimote doesn't register. When I click HBC from the wii menu, I get a black screen and wii mote doesn't register (same thing).

What the hell am I supposed to do now?

How? I installed it the first time w/ bannerbomb and hackmii. Do I have to uninstall it?

Yes, use bannerbomb and you should uninstall it first.
And then I would try installing hbc 1.0.3 first to see if that works and if not try going back to 1.0.1

Also I always like to tell me to make sure that their computer can read their nand before they feel that everything is fine because that happens to a lot of people.

It's best to format the SD card your are going to use for backing up your nand with your computer before doing anything with bootmii.

Anyway 4.0 isn't anything to be scared of.

Also in case you need to try 1.0.1 and since it seems like Team Twiizers doesn't have a link to 1.0.1 anymore you can find it by googling the_homebrew_channel-1.0.1.tar.gz

Be warned that it will ask you to update every time.

I go to WAD manager to install cIOS60patch (whatver the hell it is) but I still cant choose cIOS249, the closest thing I have is cIOS254 and when I try to install it to that I get error installing ticket -2004 or something. What do I do>?

So the homebrew channel is working again?

If you don't have IOS249 that means you didn't install cIOS.
Are you following the guide that is the first post in this thread?

And I'd like to advise that once you install the patched IOS60 using wad manager do not uninstall it. That will kill your Wii. Almost worst kind of brick that you can think of. You might as well take the IOS60 wad off of your SD card after you install it so there won't be any accidents.

Anyway the guide that is the first post in this thread links you to here: http://yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=113

That is what you will do to install cIOS aka as IOS249, aka cIOS rev whatever.

Yes you are right I didn't bother installing cIOS36.
Why bother installing that only to write over it w/ cIOS38?

It's likely that that was the wad that was available when the guide was written. You are free to use a wad of cIOS38 if you have one. Installing cIOS36 is really just getting your foot in the door and then you no longer have to use a wad to install cIOS. You can use the installers that are found on Waninkoko's blog to upgrade or downgrade to which ever one you want.
http://www.teknoconsolas.es/blogs/waninkoko

And maybe you will because pretty much all of them have one issue or another.
Not terrible issues but enough to make you want to experiment to see what works with what.

Also since you are on 4.0 and you already have hbc you could just follow this http://yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=70 to get cIOS installed instead of dealing with loadmii and the hbc that are at this one http://yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=113

I have to say this guide is well written for someone who wants to "monkey see monkey do" but very difficult to understand what's actually going on. I'll admit I didn't follow it initially since I was on 3.4 and wanted to take advantage of bootmii boot2 which this guide does not explain.

As of right now, I have installed HBC using bannerbomb and bootmii (not loadmii or w/e the hell they were using at yafaze forums). HBC is working. I do NOT care about backup loader since I already have a modchip, is that right? Or do I still need backuploader to use USB Loader?

Do I still have to install cIOS36b? If not, when installing cIOS38rev13b, what IOS should I choose in WAD Installer? I don't have 249 obviously.

You don't need backup loader for usb loader.

But you will need to install cIOS.
You should downgrade IOS35 like mentioned here. http://yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=70

Then that will allow you to install a wad of cIOS.
IOS249 is essentially cIOS36 and cIOS38. It is the slot that they install to.

If you install cIOS36 then you will have IOS249.
If you install cIOS38 then you will have IOS249.

But unless you have a wad for cIOS38 go ahead and use the wad for cIOS36 and then use an installer to upgrade.

Also just so we are clear cIOS36 isn't just one cIOS. cIOS36 covers revisions I think 4 through 11. It's recently the revisions 12 and 13 and 13b that are based on 38.

I followed that guide you posted for 4.0 users w/ HBC. I:

1.Run CMDVDX34 using HBC (Downgrade IOS35 and exit the app)

2.Install IOS35.wad using Wad Manager (any version) (if it fails, it's already installed, don't worry continue)

3.Then run Wad Manager (IOS35 Version) and install the CIOS7.wad

I did all that. Then, I went back to larry's tutorial, installed cIOS60patch and cIOS38rev12. I then installed USB Loader. Didn't work.

Downloaded USB loader from actual USB LOader site. Now it loads, but when I click "format" it shows 0.00gb/0.00gb free. Also, If I ever press "return" after pressing wii menu or add, it crashes to a black screen again.

Also, it gets "locked" everytime I start it again. So I have to unlock it, but it's useless since it says my drive has 0.00gb. I'm assuming it's detecting the drive since it says found, but not formatted, but why it's showing 0.00gb and crashing randomly I dont know.

I'm going to install cIOS36 and then cIOS38 again I guess.

Please help!

ok, i'm really confused since everyone has a different setup. Here's my dilemma. 3.1U system, Wiikey 1, Updated to 1.9s. Older games seem to work just fine. I have HBC loaded via Twilight Hack, BUT i try newer games (i.e. Blox Block Party, Grand Slam Tennis, Tiger Woods 10) and I get a black screen after I hit the A button from the preview channel of the game.

What do i need to install/update for these games to work??? 4.0U? Wad manager?

thank you in advance for HELP!

Install cIOS38_rev12.

Now update to 4.0 (normal Wii update) then install IOS50Patch. If you want trucha disc to work then run IOS Downgrader.

Start at the Extra Steps: section of the guide. Download the files I have linked and place them on your SD Card.

Now follow the cIOS38_rev12 section first.

Then update to 4.0 firmware using the WIi System update (like normal).

After that follow the IOS60Patch section of the guide.

If you don't know what trucha signed disc are then you probably don't use them. But if you want to make sure you can run the IOS Downgrader it won't hurt anything.

Thanks Larry,

According to your guide, I should select IOS249. I don't have that as an option...closest is 254. If you prefer to answer my question on the new thread I started rather than here, then just let me know. thanks for your help!

You have to clear the password in settings in the USB loader - that way it won't lock each time you re-load it.

I'd try using WBFS manager on your PC to format your drive and load your first game and then connect it to your Wii and see if that does the trick.

Yeah what woffle said.

Also what revision of USB Loader GX are you using?
Because I noticed that you said you downloaded it from the official site but the official google code site http://code.google.com/p/usbloader-gui/ doesn't have precompiled dols.

Did you get it from here? http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/
If you did, then it's likely pretty recent
Changelog is here http://code.google.com/p/usbloader-gui/source/list
Latest rev is 502.
Also starting around rev420 you are able to download the newest update straight to the Wii.

You can check which rev you have by going to credits. It should be in the top right.

I believe 13b is known to do that. I certainly have experienced it when returning to the menu after loading a game and then trying to load another game.
Maybe switching to 12 will work. With so many variables going on (different cios, a billion revision of usb loader) sometimes problems just start happening and you don't even know what caused them until you take a step back and really see what is going on.

Instead of unplug the console you can just hold the power button until it goes off. You don't have to wait for 10 minutes.

Also supposedly instead of returning to the Wii menu to switch games going to reset from the home menu to return allows you to switch without freezing.
Haven't tried it myself. Not near the Wii right now.

Edit: And I didn't know that Dell had Wiis.

Is "Wiis" the plural of Wii? it seems like both singular and plural should both just be Wii (Like sheep instead of sheeps and deer instead of deers)

I formatted my drive w/ WBFS manager on the computer and it got detected fine.

I downloaded the latest rev from the usb loader gx site (kourieo) and it worked fine. It looks much cooler as well since you can view the games like a gallery!

This was such a headache to do though lol.

I'm also having the problem of black screen loading after returning to home menu. I can't really understand from your post, but is this confirmed to be a cIOS39rev13b problem? If I install rev12 will it fix it?

Also, what do you mean "reset from the home menu"? Like press the home button on wiimote and choose Reset?
