Yeah, I've installed everything up to the Gamecube support. I really appreciate your help though. Thanks.

I just read in one of Larry's (thread starter) post that the green screen usually means it's a region issue. I got a NTSC version of the game, and in the comments everyone was raving about how it worked. I'm from Canada, so I don't suppose I'd use a PAL version.

Might try borrowing a external hard drive now and see if that at least works.

no probs at all - if all else fails you could try downloading wii region frii if you dont have it and then patch the iso with it to fit your region. its a good little program that has sorted many region issues out for me in the past.

good luck!

ok - let me know how you get on :)

if you play a game that is out of your region and it asks for an update dont do it. theres different updates for different regions and installing the wrong one could brick your wii - the backup channel seems to get round system updates and will boot past that screen. however the brick blocker program is another good one to have as it will take the option from the iso to make sure that you cant accidently update and risk damaging your console.

Followed the guide and everything went well, first and only attempt until i get some more blank discs failed so have been looking at the usb loader gx.

I have 4 titles on an 8gb stick plugged into the back and the sd card in the slot but as soon as i select the channel it blanks out and appears to reset the wii menu.

reading the guid e the key section is this

Start the Homebrew Channel and run Wad Manager 1.4. Choose IOS249 and select SD Card for device to mount. Now choose USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad in the list to install.

This will install a forwarder to your Wii menu which will allow you to launch the USB Loader from the Wii menu (this is only a forwarder it will still need the SD card in the Wii to run the Loader).

Users that installed the old forwarder can delete it and use Wad Manager to install this new forwarder. You will also need to change the usbloader folder in the apps folder to usbloader_gx for the forwarder to boot the USB Loader GX aplication.

From this I have two questions

1 on my working sd card should I have the USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad in my apps folder

2 should the above be in a folder in apps called "usbloader_gx"

thanks

In order to boot games from the normal disc channel you need to install cIOSCorp. You can find a guide HERE on how to install it to boot from the normal disc channel.

If you don't have cIOSCorp installed then follow the guide above to install it or you need to boot the backups with Wiigator backup launcher.

I have installed everything up to and including the GC backup support, but the launcher gives a disc read error 324 whenever I insert a backup (both Wii and GC). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need the usbloader_gx folder in the apps directory like it is in the pack when you download it.

After installing the USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder.wad file you can delete it from the wad folder.

All files are in the proper place in the SoftmodPack download. There is no need to change them around.

You can edit your post by clicking on the paper and pencil icon at the top right of your post.

@Ngamer

ERROR324 is usually a media issue.

Burn with IMGBurn at 4X or half the rated write speed of the media.

Use quality DVD-R media.

Larrylje, I just realized that I had memory cards in my wii when I did the first softmod installation. Is that what made my discs not work or..?

Different wii's like different media. Most here have found that verbatim dvds work, however I myself have found that tdk DVD-Rs work quite well for me. If one media type doesn't work...try another. I have not heard compatability on -RW's, I would recommend sticking to DVD-R's only until you find a brand that works, then try the RW's of that brand if you feel you want to try and rewrite them.

Ok so I've only read the first page or so of this thread. I'm a pretty big noob when it comes to this kind of thing but I had successfully softmodded my wii with the twilight hack several months ago. I'm currently on 3.2U firmware with homebrew channel 1.0.3 (I think that's the latest one, right?). I am planning on updating to backup launcher .3 gamma soon, and I will try my best to follow your tutorial for that, but first I have a question. Some of the apps in my SD card have stopped working on HBC. When I try to use, for instance, the homebrew browser or wad manager applications, a notice appears telling me that these are not valid applications. Is the problem that I have outdated versions of these apps that are no longer compatible with HBC, or has my SD card corrupted, or is it something else? I'm not that good at this kind of thing but it's very annoying when I cant even get to my wads to install the new cIOS that I need. Thanks for any help!

PS: Whats the Trucha bug?

For this step, which allows you to bot discs in the Disc Channel:

"Step 1: Run IOS Downgrader (Launch it using HBC).

Follow the on screen instructions. Make sure all files pass instillation (you should get ?OK? if they pass). If any fail to install then rerun the IOS Downgrader until they all pass. "

I noticed that when the IOSDowngrader is loaded it shows a disclaimer and gives two options: 1) if you agree press A button to continue 2) Otherwise, press B button to restart your wii

Even if I press A the system seems to restart. I noticed this with the IOS Downgrader in the initial step of my first troubles.

Please help, I couldn't do it properly, I tried so many times copying the 2 zip files add1f_v108 and the hackmii installer beta 2. As the guide said that there's only 2 zip file on the sd card and I insert it on the wii then nothing happened. I extract the add1f_v108 and copy the private folder on the sd card and extract also the hackmii installer and copy the installer.elf, I rename it to boot.elf. I insert it again and it pops out to load the boot.dol and there was an error pop out that it cannot be open the /boot.dol.

I solve the problem. My bad, I just need the homebrew channel. Thanks for this guide even though I didn't use the long guide. Thanks again

i have been doing a lot of reading and have pieced some info together but i am a big noob and need it spelled out.
i have a wii softmod with twilight hack, never updated any wads or anything, i did this backk in like march.

wii: 3.2u
serial: lu63
launcher is 1.0.1
downgrader 1.2
and i do have starfall//

i have like 60 backups and they all work fine but i have run into a green screen for indiana jones staff of the kings. i have ghostbusters coming and also punch out and i am guessing i may have the same issue there.

my question is, i am reading that i should go to cios 13 not 13b is this correct if not what should i do, if so how do i do this. ( like i read install wads and cios and stuff like this, but they dont say how, they say install the way that works best well i am so new i dont know what that means, so what i am asking is how do install these wads and cios please respond with great deatil becausue i dont know how to install wads and cios with out directions like go to homebrechannel then go to wad manager then click install now things like that.)

Download cIOS38_rev13 from here http://www.mediafire.com/?hoqz1mykljh
Extract
Find the file called cIOS38_rev13-Installer.dol
Rename it to boot.dol
Make a folder in the Apps folder of your SD card called cIOS38 (or whatever you want to call it, it doesn't matter)
Put the file that you renamed to boot.dol in the cIOS38 (or whatever you named it) folder
Start the Homebrew Channel and you should see it there at almost the end of the list of apps.
Load it and follow the directions to install cIOS38_rev13

I see in the compatibility list that Rev13 is indeed the revision of cIOS that you want for Indiana Jones to work. I just can't say with certainty that this will definitely solve your problem. I really haven't done anything with 3.2 in a long time.
If that does not solve your problem then you will either have to install the necessary IOSes (there's a difference between cIOSes and IOSes) or upgrade to 4.0

Some of the newer games will only work with cIOS38_rev13a so I have updated the guide to that revision.

You don't have to download any wads. I have no idea why you think the guide is so confusing. I can't dumb it down anymore then I have.

Maybe it is your reading comprehension that is at fault not the guide.

The guide clearly says...

Quote:
IF YOUR WII IS 3.4 OR BELOW AND ALREADY SOFTMODED (with cIOS36_rev8 or higher and homebrew channel) ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS UPDATE TO 4.0 USING THE NINTENDO SERVERS (how you normally would update). THEN INSTALL THE IOS60PATCH UNDER THE EXTRA STEPS SECTION!
Why is that so confusing?

Also I updated the guide to include cIOS38_rev13a so all you need to do is re-download the SoftmodPack on the first page then follow the cIOS38_rev13a section of the guide to install it.
