Thanks for the great guide.

I am running 4.1E and it seems to be working perfectly.

I followed all the steps up until the gamecube bit, including downgrading the ios.

Should I avoid installing any updates / playing any future original games that might try to install updates?

All I can tell those that are having an error connecting to the Wii server is to try again.

Or use this Offline Downgrade/Upgrade guide HERE to install 4.1 again without using WiFi and see if that fixes the issue.

I am a total noob and i managed to get my 3.4u softmodded wii up to 4.1u with this guide.

I am still able to use usb loader 1.5 (also use usb loader gx)
and all the other homebrew goodies (emulators , etc)

Larry you are the king, not sure if this could have been any easier.

Cheers to you

Bought a new Irish/Eu wii on sunday last and had it modded with this guide (first time to mod) on the monday.

Thx for the a great guide.

One note - adding this file (IOS38-64-v3610.wad) to the sd card at the start may help if you do not have web access when modding the wii.

Just take it handy with the instructions - I did - handy enough.

Thanks again,

I have 2 questions I hope someone can answer:

1) Can you mod a Japanese or Korean Wii using this method? I read somewhere that you can't but this guide doesn't say so, so I wanted to make sure before trying it.

2) Just out of curiosity, if you have a korean Wii with firmware 3.3 or lower, can you use the Japanese Zelda no Densetsu to run the Twilight Hack or do you have to use a Korean Zelda disc?

Thanks.

Larry, I just wanted to say thank you for the efforts you have put into this forum. I have been reading for 3 days straight and your threads are the most helpful....so kudos to you. I will start off by saying that I am a dumbass as far as this stuff goes. I am a 44 year old mom of 5 and am trying to get this stuff right. I don't understand much about what I am doing but am trying to learn and follow directions as best I can. I have successfully used your guide to soft mod my wii. I have also successfully used your guide to add the usb loader. I had some issues - but after doing extensive searching and reading, I have fixed most of them. There are a few games that I cannot run and I am about to give up on them. They are Pikmin, X-Men-Wolverine and Wii Resorts. I know that we can do without them, but it is almost a mission now to figure out why they won't play. I guess if I understood a little more about the technical side of this, it would make things alot easier for me. Some of the games will attempt to load and you can actually play them, but they are black and white and very blurry. I know it is just a matter of finding the right settings, but when it boots you out everytime you try something and you have to restart the Wii, this can't be good. Another issue that I am having is some of the game covers will not load - some will, some won't. I have put them in the correct files on the SD card and yet they still won't load - go figure.

I guess I will keep plugging along here. I just wanted to let you know that I for one very much appreciate your guides which are in old lady terms that I can semi-comprehend - LOL.

For the games that are booting black and white you need to go to settings before launching the game and FORCE NTSC. Or download the NTSC version of the game.

You can also press the BOXART in the USB Loader and download the covers that way.

-John

I have the same prob and the wii support page says to try updating again and I did that with same results and it says if problem still exists to give support a call. I am wondering if I should make the call before I finishe installing by the guide. What are you going to do?
I posted this recently....

Well I went ahead and run through the Offline Update Guide and then did the update using Wii updater and it updated just fine. I then had to do the hack to make the backed up games run from the disc channel again.

After I reinstalled the hack for loading games from the disc channel I got the error again from the Wii updater. So it looks like the hack for the backup game disc channel loader is screwing up with the update. Just some information for you guys.

-John
___________

Do you have the hack installed so you can load backed up games using the disc channel?

Hello All

I've not played my wii for some months now but yesterday i tried to play a back up game (sports resort) and got a blue screen with the #0002 error.
I'm aware this has been covered many times and i have read this and many posts on this site but still not sure which fix to go for as i don't want to destroy the kids wii.

I softmodded the wii in January 09 with the Zelda Twilight hack using the great guide on this site so wondered what steps i needed to do now to get the newer games working. Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Here are my wii specs :-

Homebrew Channel Installed
Wii :- Version 3.3E
BackUp Launcher:- Version 0.3 Gamma
Coder:- Wiigator
Non wifi.

Many Thanks

thanks larry for the guide.
I followed it, but I'm really new to modding, and I didn't see anything in your guide about what program to use for play Backup copies of Wii games.
Is there a separate app that I need to install...to me the guide talks about installing the HBC, not about playing backup/burnt copies of Wii games.
Could you please clarify.

Thanks in advance!

Ok, so when you install the Neogamma, then after that, how do you play the Wii backups? What do you use to launch it?

I think you need to do a bit more reading my friend......

Are you telling me you are able to post a comment (badly) on here but are unable to type 'neogamma' into google and find out for yourself?

If you can't do that and are still struggling to work out what you need to use / do to play backups perhaps you should be asking yourself if modding is for you?!?

I could have done yes BUT you could have also done some research for yourself and not clutter up an already huge thread. Jeeeezz

And I gathered you haven't done the mod yet as you would have know a bit more, but clearly you haven't read all that much (let alone the 40 odd pages of this thread) and just decided to post up a question on the end instead......Jeeeez

According to a google search (which you could have done) Systems with a serial# LAH113 and above should not use this type of softmod. I have edited the guide to include the other region serial# that should not use this guide.

As for a different softmod the LU64fix might work but I am not 100%. You need to use google and try to find out more information for yourself.

I am also on an old version 3.1 i think but have modded a few now up to 4.1

All you need to do to fix sports resort is instal Neogamma R6 the one from Larry's awesome guid(1st page)

When you have installed this insert the game choose the channel and then start.
When on the black screen with the options and the green bar choose config options
then scroll down to alt.dol and press the right dpad button until it says disc
then return to the main menu where it says load from dvd and press a

when the next screen pops up a bit will pop up last saying <main.dol> scroll down to this and press right once until it says <player.dol> then you have to wathc the 3 minute tutorial on motion plus.

After this the game will boot perfectly with no video or no faffing about.

any questions please ask

Many, many, thanks scoops01gk with your information i got the game working no problem and i really appreciate you've taken time out to reply to my problem.
Will neogamma now play all the new games released on my wii or will i have to go through the same 'config' process everytime i play a new backup game?
Once again thanks mate :-)

Thanks to larrylje also :-)

I installed everything, seems to be okay. Well, actually I installed all the way to the bottom until the USB Loader part. So now what? I have backed a game and curious about playing it on the wii? I burning it now as an iso image. Okay to play the game, do I simply just put the disc in and its there? Do I need to install the USB Loader GX? What about future updates, is it allowed? Thanks everyone!
