It says I am now on version 4.1U but shop channel says I need to update before I can use it. I try several times to reupdate and I get same 32017 error. Can you suggest in detail as to what my next step should be. Thanks again for ya young brains. :)
I already told you what to try a few post back.

ok, I gonna give it a try and ignore the 32017 error code. Now, I have all the files but this one( CIOS60BF.wad ). Where do i find it or does it get created after I run the IOS60Patched.wad ? I didn't see it in the softmod pack I downloaded. Thanx

CIOS60BF.wad is in the other guide to run backups from disc channel.

Follow this guide first. Then follow that guide after completing this guide.

What is the other guide called or maybe a link to it. I am going to try and follow the steps you told me and now I am getting a bit confused. These are the steps you provided to do since I am already on Homebrew 1.0.3 installed. I will skip the part where you say try to install Homebrew unless I lose it when I do the ios60patch. ( Then run IOS60Patched.wad and IOS Downgrader. Then try installing the new Homebrew Channel.

After that you can install Preloader .29, cIOSCorp, CIOS60BF.wad then reinstall Preloader .29 again..) I hate to be this much of a pain but I appreciate your patience. Thanx

You could try booktyping the DVD+R media to DVD-ROM. Do a search on how to booktype media when you burn.

But I would recommend using quality DVD-R media for best compatibility with the loaders.
now i used dvd-r (TDK) no errors but i get timeout when i want to start game?

First off IOS60Patch does not say to install it if you want trucha bug exploit fixed. Also the IOS Downgrader is not under the Extra Steps section anymore (this was changed a few weeks ago). I suggest refreshing the page and read the guide again.

As for updating follow these steps in the order I give below.

STEP 1 follow the cIOS38_rev14: section

STEP 2 Uninstall the Backup Launcher (you can do this from data management/channels in the Wii settings menu).

STEP 3 Update to latest 4.1 firmware using the normal update method.

STEP 4 Follow the IOS DOWNGRADER: section.

STEP 5 Follow the IOS60Patched and NeoGamma R6: section.

You are now updated with latest firmware and cIOS. Use Neogamma to play your backup games.

As for Wii Sports Resort look through the threads in the Wii section. There are multiple threads already started with answers on how to get this game to work.

I would also suggest installing Bootmii and Preloader at this time for brick protection (do a Google search on these applications to find out what they are and how to install and use).
Okay Larry, followed these steps completely and everything installed as designed...no errors.

Now, I've yet to uninstall my 1.0 HBC and follow the HBC install with BootMii via the Hackmii Installer. I guess I should do that next, but wanted to test BU functionality.

Sweet...it took me awhile to figure out the first menu item in NeoGamma that says Launch Game DVD was actually used as a function to launch the BU game...LOL.

Alright, this is positive now our My Sims racing that wouldn't load before loads fine as well as our other 8 BU's.

Questions:

1. Inserting a BU disc results in the default Wii Disc CHL to say "System Update" on the CHL icon. Will it hurt to do this system update or should I ignore it? Remember I've got kids...they'll want to press it I'm sure. Is this something BootMii will rectify?

2. At this point, w/o installing new 1.0.3 HBC and Bootmii, what would happen to my system if I put newly released original Wii titles such as Sports Resort? Would it run fine and not cause any issues with my current BU configuration? Or, would this be where Bootmii comes into play?

Thanks,
Lex

Hey Larryjle

I followed your guide, up to where it says to launch WAD manager for the first time to downgrade the IOS. I try to select IOS35 but it just freezes. I selected IOS36 and it worked fine, but I ran into problems when I tried to follow later instructions.

So, I decided to reformat the wii system memory and start again. However, now when I try to launch boot.elf from the SD stick, it freezes at a black screen, so I effectivley can't go any further. I am at 4.1U firmware and my wii serial number begins with LU39

Any suggestions?

EDIT: IOS downgrades successfully from what I can tell, (it doesn't give me any errors or anything to indicate something went wrong)it's just that the WAD manager freezes when selecting IOS35

ANOTHER EDIT: Okay, I managed to get the installer to work by recopying the files to the SD card, but I don't want to proceed unti I know what is making it freeze at the IOS35 in WAD manager. Anyone?

PSN: CrossFire311

I have a few questions regarding this whole softmod thing since I'm a bit new to it all.

I know what RegionFrii does, but what exactly does Brickblocker? I read about something regarding updates but I don't understand what it does.

Also, I read somewhere about turning Wiiconnect24 off to be able to softmod. I guess that's not the case for this guide?

Will a 32 MB SD card work fine to softmod and to use USB Loader?

And one last thing, does the LU64 fix work for LU65?

Edit: Okay I dl'ed the fix. The readme says:

IMPORTANT: NEVER DOWNGRADE YOUR LU64 WII!! IT WILL BRICK!! DO NOT USE CIOSCORP OR IT WILL BRICK!!

and

DO NOT INSTALL ANY OTHER CIOS AT THIS TIME! YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE R11 WHEN IT IS READY AND CONFIRMED SAFE

So what steps should I skip from this guide and can someone please go into a little bit more detail on what this means as I'm new to this whole softmodding scene and have no idea what all this is.
Could someone please answer my questions?

No because the guide explains what you need to do. All of us was new at one time or another but we learend by reading and folowing directions.

If you can't follow it and figure it out then maybe you should not mod your system.

Age has nothing to do with it. Neither does experience in the WIi modscene. All the info is here. If you can read then you should be able to get the job done.

Well what you told me to do worked great, just a couple of questions (prior to updating HBC 1.0 to 1.0.3 and installing BootMii):

1. Inserting a BU disc results in the default Wii Disc CHL to say "System Update" on the CHL icon. Will it hurt to do this system update or should I ignore it? Remember I've got kids...they'll want to press it I'm sure. Is this something BootMii will rectify?

I guess I should get my 20yo grandson to help me out. Anyway, I put the softmod files on the sd card. When I run homebrew now, all I get is a bubbles screen. My card just has 2 folders, apps and wad on it and nothing else. I am not using the sd card that I had in my nand with the homebrew already installed. I thought I saw a similar problem asked but didn't find the answer. Maybe you have patience enough to help me out I hope. :) Thanks Again

Power tripper? HAHAHA!

Cry me a river.

If you don't like it then hit the road.

The guide is perfectly fine if you follow it and you have a base knowledge of the Wii modscene. If you don't then do some research before you try to tackle this job.

I help allot in this forum but I tend to not help those that can't seem to help themselves or follow directions.

But asking if this guide will let you boot backup disc is just lazy and irritating. So yeap I guess I have no patient for those that still have to ask if this guide boots backup games even after they supposedly read the guide and past 40 pages.

larry, can u give me any info as to why homebrew won't start up to install anything? I did put the softmod files on a new 4gb sd card. Or maybe I have been too much a problem for ya because i don't have even much base knowledge of all this but I did manage to get the homebrew installed on my 3.4 system. now it's 4.1 and hoped to proceed to installing the iso60patched wad. but now I am lost again with the new card. sorry to be a pest. thanx anyway. :)

I just got a Wii 4.1U LU1122...

I have exactly the same issue.

Hi. I modded my system a couple of months ago using the guide posted here. It worked perfectly and I have no complaints. The guide I used, however, installed cIOS13a and Backup Launcher 0.3.

I noticed that the guide has switched to cIOS14 and NeoGamma. I'd like to keep up with everyone else, but I want to keep my system to bare minimum. That is, I want to remove the old stuff and then install the new.

How do I remove 13a and Backup Launcher 0.3 and then install cIOS14 and Neo Gamma?

My system is a 4.0u, with Backup Launcher 0.3, cIOS13a and USB Loader GX installed (forwarder).

Thanks
