What exactly is this error? I've been looking around and I haven't seen an explanation on this. It goes from -1017 to -1029. It is a wad file as I've usually used but i've never had this problem. Also I did recently upgrade to v4.0 using a guide to not lose functionality of stuff. Though can anyone give me a hand?

I've got the same problem on my Wii, installing a wad starts of fine, but after while stops with an error -1022. I've tried with wad manaer 1.3 and wad manager 1.4.

I've got a channel which I installed as wad, so it did work a while ago. The only thing I was able to install was a patched IOS60. All Channel-wad's abort with -1022.

I'm on 4.0 too and have HBC and a CIOS installed.

One question: When starting Wad Manager 1.4 it asks about the ios to use, I've got the choice of about 40 versions from 4 to 254. How do I know which one I should use ?

Man, im having very similar problems :(

I thought updating to 4.0 would be a good idea, but ive been pulling my hair out.
Have a wiikey, with HBC already installed. Tried to upgrade to 4.0 using http://www.yafaze.com/wii/4.0updateguide.html (method 1). Installed CIOS rev.9 and IOS60, then followed the steps.
Still can use HomebrewChannel, but cant install any wad files it seems. As soon as it starts trying to install, instantly get the similar error -1022(varies).

Anyone have any idea whats wrong? i really want to get the usb loader working. Everything else in HBC words, mediaplayer, etc. Just installing wads doesnt seem to. Have tried Wadmanager1.3 and 1.4, no luck.
Any help would be insanely appreciated

Everyone pretty much has the same problem and you all need to use IOS downgrader. I'm surprised that isn't in the guides that you followed.

So using the IOS downgrader will help? And I didn't see anything like that in the guide I saw awhile back referring to installing wads but I did use an IOS downgrader before upgrading to 4.0 . Can you tell me a bit more about that?

Yes
http://www.teknoconsolas.es/blog/waninkoko/ios-downgrader-v10

IOS Downgrader enables the trucha bugs in the IOSes.
It uses the internet to downgrade these IOSes: 11, 12, 13, 15, 17, 20, 21, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, and 36

It doesn't touch the system menu IOSes (30 in 3.2 and 3.3, 50 in 3.4 and 60 in 4.0)

If you did the IOS downgrader before updating to 4.0, then 4.0 just updated all of them again.

You're welcome. And I noticed that you said that you installed a patched IOS60. Whatever you do, do not uninstall IOS60. Unless you want to buy a new Wii. Take the IOS60 wad out of your wad folder and put it on your PC if you are feeling "tempted" to see what will happen.

I've found IOS Downgrader V1.2 by Wakinkoko and had a look. It looks like I can downgrade to a quite long list of older firmwares.

If I choose to go his path and downgrade to 3.3E (Sysmenu 3.0) I'll be able to install my wads with WAD-manager, but I loose the SD card management of Sysmenu V4.0 ?

That means I'll have to do the following:
- Move all my channels to the SD (using V4)
- Downgrade to V3.3
- Install WAD's until the memory is full
- Upgrade to V4.0
- Move channels to the SD

And every time I want to install a new WAD again I'll redo the entire process ?

One more question, I've actually installed channels after upgrading to V4 from WAD's one example is the backup channel. Why did that work and for others it does not ?

Markus, that is cIOS downgrader. It is different from IOS downgrader. IOS downgrader downgrader downgrades IOSes. cIOS downgrader will downgrade your System Menu.

***Edit* ah i think you just answered my question with your last post, nevermind.

I've missed a few good replies while testing and assembling my post. The difference between IOS and cIOS is somewhat confusing to me anyway.

However, I've downloaded and ran the IOS downgrader 1.0, by Waninkoko and it did download a whole lot of stuff. But after restarting the Wii and going back to WAD Manager 1.4 I've still have the same -1022 Error on each WAD I try.

So downgrading the IOS is *not* sufficient to make installing WAD's work.

And in Wadmanager 1.4 you selected IOS249 to install the wad?
I'm assuming that everyone has cIOS rev 9 or 10 (shows up as IOS249 in anytitledeleter)

If nothing works for you then you can also take a look at this:
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?s=fccfae482...howtopic=156702

It is pretty new and doesn't look like it has been tested to much.
I certainly am not familiar with the steps but it might be the situation that you are in.

Actually now that I look at it. It looks pretty intense. Maybe you should hold off.

Well I used the cIOS downgrader to go back to 3.3U so I lost the SD and whatever which wasn't that important to me, but it still giving me ret = -1022 when i tried with the v1.4 wad manager. It goes to number 4 then gives me the error. Unless I gotta update some IOSes again after downgrading

Interesting situation you have here.
But upgraded IOSes really don't help. The only reason Nintendo updated them was for security.

Edit: Actually scratch that (I was going to ask if you had cIOS, but there is no way you wouldn't if you used cIOS downgrader)

Well I am using 249 and the rest that I installed for use of the usb loader, backup loader, DVDx, and..i forget the rest. 249 and 36 are the ones are the ones I think I'm familar with, as the HBC says using 36 or 37 I think.

So you are still getting -1022 after going back to 3.3?
But before updating to 4.0 you were able to install wads perfectly?

If so, I'm not sure what to tell you except that I think I heard that there's supposed to be a new wadmanager eventually that will work perfectly with 4.0

Yea I installed quite a bit of them without problems. The only times I had problems was when the wad was bad but i didn't know there was gonna be a new wad manager.

Well might as well wait to see if theres gonna be a new Wad Manager as they said. I'll hold up until then while still looking around. Thanks for the responses from everyone.

Ok I have to really apologize. It seems that my problem, or I think it was, wasn't the Wii, it was my SD card. When I downgraded to 3.3U, and I tired using the 1.3 wad manager, it gave me error ret = -1, which means the format of the sd card wasn't fat32 or 16. After formatting it, the wad installed. I'm really confused as to why i got 1022 with 1.4 but I'm happy it worked in the end. I'm also annoyed that my SD card wasn't Fat 32 to begin with...so I'm kinda sorry for dragging this out.
