Hi,

I have a Wii with firmware 3.2U, Twilight SoftMod, Homebrew, WiiGator Backup loader 03 (non Error #002 fix version obv).

Issues: a) I created a backup of Mad World using the backup dumper. The game played fine on the Wii, but backup didn't work, giving Error #002. All of my other backups have worked fine. Tried burning again but still the same result.

b) I bought Punch Out! for Wii and it says I need to update in order to play in the Disk channel. When I try to play the game in the backup loader, I get the same Error #002. So I can't play Punch Out! at all.

Question: I assume I need to install the new backup loader with Error #002 fix, ( WiiGator's Backup Launcher Gamma with 002 Error Fix )but is there anything else I have to do? Do I just drag n drop it to the SD card, run it in the Wad installer and pow! it works?

I see many similar thread here but none that address this issue. They've all been PAL and I'm NTCS or have been using a different backup loader.

Can anyone confirm if all I have to do is run WiiGator\'s Backup Launcher Gamma with 002 Error Fix as a Wad and I'm good to go?

Thanks

nothing special, to fix your 002 error: best bet is the 2nd item.

1) A backup channel with 002 fix.
2) load the latest cios Rev 9 (or rev10)

What's up sleepdirt, I had the same exact issue with the newer Wii Games (Boom Blox, Punch Out) and here is what I did to solve this error code 002.

1. I installed the Trucha Patched IOS60.wad through Wad Manager on the Homebrew Channel. To get patch go here:

2. I then updated the Wii Firmware software with Waninkoko's 4.0 Updater. (Note: Create a new folder in the app directory on your sd card, you can name it wii updater 4.0. In that folder you just created, copy the file you just downloaded, but make sure you rename the file to boot.dol)
go here:

3. I then installed a different gamma loader. You can install through Wad Manager. go here:

You should be good to go with the newest Wii Firmware and your new backups should work top notch.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

One seems much more simple than the other however I believe it could use some clarification.

Are you talking about cIOS36_rev9-Installer.dol?

If so, where do I put the file on my SD card. Do I rename it?

Thanks,

Create a new folder and call it rev9.

Rename cIOS36_rev9-Installer.dol to boot.dol and place it in the rev9 folder.

Now place the rev9 folder in the apps folder on your SD card.

Now you can run the installer via Homebrew Channel.

I just tried this now, but Rev9 doesn't show up in the Homebrew Channel. If I name the folder rev9 and it's in the Apps folder and the newly renamed boot.dol file is in the rev9 folder, it should show up as a separate entry in the Homebrew menu, shouldn't it?

Or should I be installing this from Wad Manager.

Correct. You might be confused since it doesn't have an icon next to it. It will be at the end of the list in homebrew.

The folder I created in the Apps folder is not listed when I launch the Homebrew channel. Everything else is there, fceugx, Quake, Wad Manager, Snes9xGX, WiiHTTP Dumper etc.

Should I just rename the file 'boot' since if I right click it, I have the option to 'scan fold boot.dol.dol' :S ?

The file inside the folder needs to be named boot.dol or it will not show up.

I renamed it just boot and it appeared in the Homebrew channel.

I launched it. It asked if I wanted to do a WAD installation or a network installation. I selected WAD installation and got error -1. I selected network installation and got error ... -110 I believe.

Of course I do have WiFi off.

sounds like you don't have the 1042 on the root. You need IOS 1042 (I believe) wad file. Place it on root and it will install. Network needs to connect through wi-fi.

I turned on WiFi and did the network install of Rev9 and now Punch Out! and my Mad World backup work fine in the Backup Loader.

Punch Out! still shows 'System Update' in the disk channel. Anything I should do about that? Meaning, should I install the update or should I just keep playing my games through the Backup Loader?

For you to play the punchout from Wii disk channel you need to update to 4.0, otherwise used the backup loader and brickblock the game.

And if I do the update from the disk, will it have any negative impact on my Wii?

So this is happening with the original Punch Out! disk, not a backup?

Does it play using the Backup Loader?

Best bet is to update to 4.0 for better compatibility on newer games.
3.2u might work with starfall to block updates.

Before updating or after update to 4.0u you need to install the IOS60.wad (just google)

safest way to upgrade Wii is via Nintendo, few user's brick their Wii using Waninkoko update due t some customized menu.

Waninkoko update was only used to preserved the old IOS for trucha signed games.

Yeah, I would only use Nintendo's update. You simply install IOS 60 before updating and cIOS. Then after the udpate, run IOS downgrader. Done and safe.

why do you need the iosdowngrader? This guide here says all you need is ios60.wad, cios7, and HBC.

I already told you both methods need WiFi in another post.

The normal 4.0 Wii update will patch and block the Trucha Signed exploit. IOS Downgrader will downgrade and patch the IOS so the Trucha Signed exploit can work again.
