Hii, I am soon going to be installing a clip on wiikey v2 and i am not sure of the Do's and Do Not Do's...

I have a list of questions as well so if you got time to answer, i will greatly appreciate it!

----------------------------------------------------------

1. What should i update my Wii to? The latest 4.0?

2. How do i update? I got no internet connected up so via game disk or via DVD?

3. What are the potential problems of updating with a chipped Wii?

4. Am i able to play all region games on my PAL Wii with Wiikey v2 installed?

5. How do i burn ISO files to a DVD? (all legit of course)

6. Do i need to install the HomeBrew Channel?

-----------------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the long list, I just dont want to damage a 350 dollar machine... =/

It doesn't really matter what firmware you are on. If there is a game disc that requires a certain update it will update it.

If the Wii is not connected to the Internet then the only way is via Game Disc.

At this time there is no issue with updating a Wii with a modchip.

All games of your region will work. Not all Import games will work. HERE is a region compatibility list of games. Also use the config disc of the Wiikey2 to block Import game disc updates or you could brick semi-brick your system.

Use quality media (Verbatim, Tayio Yuden recommended). Use IMGBurn (free application Google it) to burn the disc. Burn at 4X or at least half the rated speed of the media.

No you do not need this. Unless you get into homebrew then updating the Wii for homebrew use is a totally different story.

And I'll toss in there, if you've never modded a console before you may wanna search for some GOOD how-to's and possibly find a friend or neighbor that may have some idea. No its no rocket science, but I've seen and had to fix some peoples mistakes, because someone didnt buy thetri-wing and went at their system with a regular micro flathead. Stripped screws, I was dremeling out screws for days. So word of wisdom make sure you know what you're doing. Also another tip, you need to be VERY accurate at puting that clip on. If you fail to line up the clup correctly you'll basically break all the pin dividers inside it and it won't work any longer. You will be resorting to soldering it in which honestly is the prefered way. I have a customer of mine that brings me his wii every few months because his clip "falls" off. Basically he hits it a certain way and it falls off. Good luck with your mod.

That is exactly why you should use solderless chip or just go with a softmod....

you can still screw up a solderless install just as easily as a soldered job. If you don't line the clip up perfectly it'll crush the pin walls and you'll be forced to remove the chip from the clip and solder directly to the board Or purchase another clip and resolder.
