Eurovox 2008 NEED HELP PLZ ! "J TAGGING" DEAD BOX!!!!!

Hi,i've just about about at my wits end with my eurovox 2008 max.Thought it just needed new PSU,well it had that(genuine not copied) but its still "DEAD".I've been informed that jtagging it will raise it from the dead so it can live again.I'd really appreciate any help or offers of some services,thanks everyone in advance!!!!!!

Have you tryrd flashing the box with the latest software if it will not find the box then unplug the box start flash make sure you know what com port you are on. select it then plug in the box as per instuctions on the flash software. it should flash then work

just a thought have you even tryed flashing the box normaly is the box dead or stuck on standbuy or has it got lines on the screen ?is it a red or blue is it a clone?

if the box is dead you cant flash you can only jatg it back

Hi,thanks for quick responses,no i haven't tried flashing it yet as i thought that it wouldn't do anything.The box does nothing, no lights and nothing comes on screen when connected up.Just been offered a jtag for £14 of the chap i got PSU off,is it pretty straight forward or is it "tricky".Also i'd need to aquire software and instruction if possible,thanks again for your time and knowledge!!!!

i have given you a link above if you look and you will get everything you need with it for a tenner .lol.
simple and straight forward cable to the box and other to the lpt port on pc

Hi FERGUSRB i only have laptop can you jtag them on that.I update my boxes on it just use a null modem cable converted to usb,will this be suitable.I only ask as the chap i bought the PSU off said i'd struggle unless i used an old pc,thanks again for your time its much "appreciated"

Thanks,its order'd now so here goes.Do you need to update software after,this box has been a proper mission from the start wish i'd of binned it and opted for a new 1,false economy rules again!Thanks again!!

I was asking about it being dead as if it has lines on the screen it can be re flashed via the bootloader without a j-tag if it is indeed dead (no red standby light) then the problem could be on the board. and that is why i asked for more info

Hi,yeah i tried to update it again but it didn't even notice it so its defo a board fault or as fergusrb says just wanting jtagging either way i will post the outcome for future referance,thanks all!!!

Well i would have thought you would have your jtag kit by now how did you get on ?
When you say it didnt see it did you try pressing start anyway then picking the com port manualy and flashing it that way its a boot loader flash (or somthing like that)its worked on 2 boxes i had that fault with the other one i done had a faulty power board

Hi,no when i tried the update it just did nothing tried it twice,might give it a go your way just for nothing,its always worth a shot.It was dead mind you if you connected to tv it didn't reconise it on any av channels,thought i try that in case panel was faulty(no lights at all red or green).Still waiting on jtag kit but i'll post my outcome,thanks!!!!!!

No red light sounds realy bad are you sure the board is getting any power at all. Ive never had a totaly dead box before so it will be interesting to see the outcome, I thought your j tag kit would have been there by now seems a bit slow on delivery ive never had to use it before so never bothered buying one.

Hi,folk still struggling with jtag on my v max it says DCU fail so won't connect.I have converted the lpt port to usb with a null modem cable and another adaptor is this the problem.I'm using a laptop would i be better off using a old pc,thanks to anyone who could offer some assistance!!!!

yes you need to use old pc i would say it has to be pluged in to the printer port not usb one

Hi,fergusrb thanks for post,this is a never ending battle.I just tried update on box to see if it would connect but no joy just to check my lead however box couldn't respond and there is no lights on at all red or green is this normal until jtag is done,relay does click on power up though,thanks!!

yes that is normal you will have to jtag the box first when you have the cable connected to the box and the pc follow the instructions that came with the jtag kit as long as the power board is working that is all you need
but even though the power board is working itself you will not see any lights on the box ok

Hi furgusrb,as you said it was down to lead.Box is up and running again however i put the eurovox blue tsop bin file on so won't let me update with my max v update,should i of used the max v full dump file and how can i correct my mistake,thanks for your patience!!!

if you box is a black 2008 you should have used the black tsop on it just jtag the box now with the black tsop now then update it with the correct firmware for that box then make sure its clone safe or it will die again

Hi,i did look in the firmware supplied with the jtag but only software for black v max was "black v max full dump bin file" all it said on instructions was to use tsop bin file only one was the one i used.So if i erase it again and re write with the "black v max full dump bin file" is should solve it,thanks!!!
