1. Are new 360's flashable? Like, if I went in today and got an Arcade model, would I be able to flash it?
2. What sort of methods are there for flashing now? Back when I was planning on doing it with my Elite (now gone) it was just, get a somewhat specific SATA card thing for the PC (bought the one recommended off of newegg, still have it), open up 360, connect the drive to the card, and follow instructions in MS-DOS or whatever it was.
Now I see something about a disc that takes you through it, which sounds great, but what else has changed?
3. What is this Lite-On Probe thing?
Sorry if they may seem obvious, or stupid, I figure it's better to ask and get it over with then go around to random threads on here and risk getting false information, if only because I don't know exactly what I'm looking at (ie, I'll think I'm reading about something I need, but in reality, it isn't, and so I've fucked myself over without knowing it).
Thanks a lot.

Oh, and in regards to #1, is there still a problem of certain drives not being flashable? So if new models can be flashed, it's not all of them that are able? Or have you dudes figured out how to do it with all the drives?
Thanks again.

1. yes
2. if you buy one today it will have a liteon drive... which requires a bit more than just hooking it up to the computer... google "ck3 extractor and probe"
3. see 2

Well that's funny, the only result is this thread, hehe.
Unfortunate though, that it's not so easy anymore.
I don't know when I'll get my next 360, so I'll get the specifics later, but how hard would you say it is to flash a new 360 compared to just hooking it up like before? I think I'd rather buy than make if the cost isn't too high, in regards to the probe thing, so with that in mind will I have a hard time?

It is if you keep the quotes...
Anyway, it doesn't matter, for now I'm content with the knowledge that it's possible. Just how easy it is is what I'm wondering.

if you have the proper equipment then its relatively easy to do. took me 10 minutes to flash my last lite-on i did (including taking the console apart and putting it back together. if you dont have the stuff, then well, its pretty much impossible to do.

Equipment huh
Aside from the 360 and the probe thing, what else would I need? Do we still use a SATA card? Got that if needed.
Thanks again.

Lite being cheaper, but only having serial.. Pro being more expensive, and having USB (I believe)
