Hello, I got a little weird story to tell, and need some ideas too.
I bought a 360 on ebay to fix (I fix and sell them while unemployed, to help pay the bills), and I got one in the other day that is a total mind-f***. First, it came in unassembled (case off), it was an hdmi, but didnt have the new heat syncs so i figured it was an earlier board. I plugged it in, in my workshop with a 203w power source, and it booted to dash just fine (was supposed to have a rrod 3 lights error). I decided to throw in a disc and see how it played, and it froze up after 5 minutes with no error. I tried several different variations, with harddrives, memory cards, clearing caches, xx rb lb xx and all the usual tricks, and it always froze either on the boot up, or after a few minutes, never giving an error, until after about 2 hours it gave an e71 on startup. Great, at least i know what the error is officially, and it fits the problems i was having, so mystery solved. Unfortunately, there isnt a lot you can do with an e71, so i put it together, and put it aside. Last night, i looked at it again, tried it out, and it was still doing the same thing, of course. I then noticed that it was actually a falcon, with the wrong heat syncs on it, so on a whim, i pulled out a 175 watt power supply, and plugged it in. Now, all errors are gone, it doesnt freeze at all, and is working spot on perfect, including backup discs. I have logged about 4 hours on it now (two 1 hour sessions, and a 2 hour) and have had zero issues. I retried it with a different 203w, and the same freezes came back. This kind of flies in the face of the accepted idea that the 203w is universal. For some reason this 360 errors out nonstop on a 203w but purrs like a kitten on a 175w. I dont really know what this all means truthfully, but i figured i would share, in case it could help even 1 other person.
Here is the part where i need help though, this strange xbox has 1 issue i never saw before, with the ring of lights, and the rf board. When you sync a new controller, the controller shows the proper sync with the top left quad, but the 360 shows it synced in the lower left quad. Then, 2 becomes the upper left quadrant on the rf board, instead of the upper right quad. I have tried 4 different rf boards and all of them do the same thing. Also, when i got the e71 error, instead of lower right quad, it was upper right quad. Anbody have an idea of why this was off by 1 counterclockwise, or what can cause this? Sorry this is so long but these are some new issues, at least for me, and i have been doing this for a while.

Couldn't it be the rotation sensor that check in which position the xbox is in?

you know, i never thought of that, now i feel dumb :)
edit-
I guess there is just something wrong with the mobo, as i just tried 3 different sensors , each in every position, and the lights stayed that way. Oh well, i guess whoever buys this will have to stand it up, or deal with off kilter lights. :)
