XBOX 360 Elite Black Screen on boot....

My friend has an Elite that's screen changed color (I think he said to purple) then changed to black. Now every time he starts his 360 it goes straight to a black screen. He can hear everything, just not see anything. He uses the supplied component cables and has tried a different set and a different tv to make sure it wasn't something that easy. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this. Maybe a bad connector or video card? Thanks!

video card is probably going out on it. i wouldnt be surprised if it gets either RROD, or e74 error here soon. either way its fixable via MS for free.
