I'm going way back since I've been out of the Xbox scene for quite some time now. Me & my son never needed XBL before so I flashed the 360 once & that's it. Never re-flashed again. Now, my son is older & wants XBL so we signed up for it yesterday. A whole bunch of updating the dashboard & other games & now we're on XBL. I'm scared since this is an old firmware that they block me off XBL.

Question is, can I update my old Max Garyopa firmware to 1.5 using jungleflasher? I also understand that I won't be able to play any of the new Wave 3 games coming out now.

I have a Hitachi Xbox of course, original release 360 with no problems for the past 4 years now I believe, but the other day I got the dreaded 3 rings for the 1st time. Laser might be going, who knows.

Can someone help me out. Am I safer playing XBL with the old firmware or should I updated to 1.5?

You should update to 1.51, then you are able to play wave 3 too. Just follow the Jungle Flasher Tutorial, you should be good to go.

I remember from back that I needed to re-flash to my original firmware first & then re-flash to 1.51. Is this correct?

Is there a tutorial on how to re-flash back to the original?

Correct. Only with the Hitachi do you have to start with original firmware.

The Jungle Flasher guide walks you through restoring/reflashing.
