Last night I bought a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, to hook up my wii to the internet and download games. I have a D-Link wireless router and cable modem. When I started to install, at some point I completely lost my internet connection....my modem was online and all the lights on my router were blinking like normal, but no internet connection could be recognized. So after pulling my hair out for a couple hours I unhooked the router, putting the internet straight from my modem and did a system restore to get rid of the wi-fi....this worked and got me back online. But, I still cannot access an internet connection with my router now. I then tried to install the wi-fi without my modem, and it did install but I can't get my wii to connect...and I am thinking? it could be because I need the router??
So, unstalled again and have been trying and trying to get my router connected but nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas for me??
Im not sure why you needed that to get online you have a wireless router so the internal wi fi should work with your router. in any case there are detailed guides HERE.
have you ran a network setup or did you just plug in the router and start using it?
You technically didn't need to buy the USB wi-fi for the wii since it already comes with one internally. Secondly I'll list your situations here:
1. You're trying to connect to the router wireless and you're not able to connect to the router?
If this is the case you need to check to see if you have security set on your router, and you will need to go into your router config screen and give your wii permission to connect, you'll do this by port forwarding, the wii needs certain ports to be able to communicate properly.
The other issue may be you're setting it up on the wii incorrectly. You'll need to find out EXACTLY what your wii IP will be to your router, and go through the connection screen for wifi to connect.
