I've got a shop looking at the Receiver atm. Just wondering if anyone has had any issues outputting 1080p via HDMI?

The problem I was getting was a loud pop through the speakers when you turn the unit on. Even the "handshake" that the HDMI cable does doesn't seem to be initially working right, screen flickers, get a snowy pic then after about 2 min everything is fine.

If I set the PS3 to 1080i, everything works like a charm no problem. If I do HDMI straight to the TV and with it set to 1080p, works fine. Only through the receiver do I have issues at 1080p.

My receiver isn't the most high end, can do just about all audio types except the Blu-Ray DTS-MA etc etc (Yamaha RX-V563).

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with theirs...

It's quite likely that your receiver doesn't support 1080p properly. I've seen quite a few receivers that only support 720p/1080i and not 1080p.

Your receiver does indeed accept, and passthrough 1080p/24. It also, accepts 7.1ch LPCM up to 96000Hz. The problem you are describing sounds like when you switch from 480p content to 1080p content. I'd also check the speaker connections, all the way from the receiver to the speaker, you might have a split cable somehwere. Does the pop happen in all speakers or just one?

Unless you have a defective HDMI cable I doubt that is the issue. Does your TV display 1080p? If not keep the settings at 1080i.

You can also have your PS3 decode the HD audio codecs, set it to HDMI (auto).

Unless your tv has agood deinterlacer, set you equipment to display 720p.
A much better picture than 1080i which is essentially 540i (top bottom field) but refreshes that fast you see the whole picture, also the colours arent true in an interlaced picture.

Its a matter of preference, but myself would rather 720p over 1080i.
