My laptop's internal drive seems to be going out so I've been trying to use my lacie external dl burner to make backup copies, but to no avail. I've booktyped the drive but when the burn completes and I load the disc into my 360 I keep getting the dirty disc error. I would think that my external drive would actually be better at burning than my internal matshita drive was before it crapped out, but apparently not.

Here is the log of my last burn using my external lacie. Can anyone see anything that might be causing my constant burning of coasters? I am using MIS Verbatim discs.

have you tried testing the games in anyone elses modded console? also, if you can get a hold of a known working copy to see if your console will even play them. it could be a crappy burn due to a crappy burner. or your drives laser could be going out, flash could have gone wrong. first step would be test the disc in someone elses drive, then get a known working game and try it. but before you attempt to burn any other copies, make sure your burners firmware is up to date.

Yeah, my console is brand new and been recently flashed so I know it works with backups as I have successfully burned copies using my internal dvd drive, until it decided to go out on me. And since I have an external burner I figured it would be a good back up drive in case my internal went out. It seems like my external burner may just be a piece of junk. Hmmm.... go figure.

it could be a POS. but make sure that the firmware for it is up to date, as this is probably the main reason for drives burning crappy discs when using the correct media.
