i was playing cod4 for only 45 minutes and it froze never had problems before. so i shut it off turned it back on, played about 10 minutes froze then the red lights.
i shut it off and let it rest for about a hour. then tryed it again and it froze, put in a unreal championship and played about 20 minutes no problems.
so would a bad rip or burn do this? i use verbatim disks burned on 2.4 times. the games are backed up from originals.
my 360 is from 2008-01-16.
benq drive. also i havent played it in over a week

Yeah you probably have a 0102 error code and most likely there is a problem with the gpu if that's the case. You can buy warranty stickers on ebay but I'm not sure if they're all the same or different for every console.

firmware mods will never cause rrod rrod occur because of insufficient cooling due to inferior heat sinks and poor ventilation also it is possible that by opening the system and banging parts or touching heat sinks can cause them to rrod if they were on the verge of it happening anyways but this is not too common. rrod's are speratic and come and go the heating and cooling of the system rejoin and then break away at solder points on the gfu. untill finally the rrod is permenant now solder reflowing, heat sink paste reapplacation, and reballing all work to temperarly fix the xbox. but unless the heat sinks are upgraded or some sort of a extra cooling mod is applied then the rrod is likely to return. but again nothing to do with firmware mods
