I am completely noob at Wii hacking and that. So, could you please tell me what I need to do install the Homebrew Channel and to play Wii Backups without a modchip. I have version 4.0E and have not installed any harmful things on it. I really don't want it to get bricked so could you please tell me a safe way to doing it. Could you tell me if these methods on installing them work.
There isn't any downgrading involved with those guides.
Also the guides that Newnie and Merandom posted will have you doing the same thing as the first step in the guide that Merandom posted is a link to the guide that Newnie posted.
If you just want the homebrew channel and to be able to play backups then you should be fine.
The guide is safe, the only place where it even gets close to brick territory is where it start with further steps.
Always be careful when dealing with IOS60 on 4.0 because that is the system menu.
You can return to further steps after you feel more comfortable about what is going on. That is if you even care about playing wads from the SD card menu.
And I think this is my last question... If an update come out for the wii and i have the softmod installed, will it brick it or is there a special way to update it.
And with the method in the link, I am able to download games from a website and put them on a hard drive with the wii format and select the game on the wii using the backup launcher. right???
