tried to flash benq with jf 1.6 and ixtreme 1.6. Xbox powered off during flash causing the first issue. i have the stock FW and custom FW created and backed up. jf recognized the drive a few more times and now no longer will. tried dosflash16 and same issue. I have looked all over for a solution with no luck. currently the drive is blank at best. It will not eject when connected to the xbox and I cannot find it on the pc.
PLEASE HELP

xp
via pci card
benq

Error seems to be connection related. your Via card is functioning?

that is what it seems like but the card worked fine geting the stock FW. It wasnt until jungleflasher froze durring a few writes that the drive became undetectable. also it shows up in the lists just has no device connected to it

installed the drivers and connected a sata hdd and it showed fine in windows explorer. uninstalled drivers and still no xbox drive

From this, I think the VIA card is perfectly fine. But now it sounds like something seriously wrong with the drive. It worked before, but now it's not being detected after jf freezing. Drive might be bricked. I'm not sure not to fix it. Anyone else?

it was my understanding you couldn't brick a benq but I could be wrong. anyway to test the drive or some aggressive recovery method? can I buy a used benq drive somewhere?

its not bricked. you will just need to do it in dos now. either try iprep or the 360 modification disc 1.6. I had this problem before and once it gets messed in JF you have to use dos.

sounds great but dos wont detect it. cant see the drive in bios, dosflash 16/32, JF or iprep. used to but not now

just tried to flash a hitachi 47 and could not send mode b through JF using my via card. it did show up though which is more than the benq is doing. I had to use a usb adapter and slax disk to do the flash.

flashed a benq and sammy with no problem today although I noticed with the sammy that after I flashed it, the drive properties were gon and no device present when I reopened JF (without ever turning the xbox off). Is there some trick after flashing 1.6. I think the drive is dead.

I had this happen before with a BenQ. Wouldn't detect in Jungle Flasher anymore and wouldn't erase using DOS16.

What I did was use Jungle Flasher even though it didn't recognize the drive anymore (choose the I/O PORT that it originally was recognized on) and erased the drive.

I can't remember if I had the drive half open or not. But if I did then I had to do it manually using the small hole in the front of the drive using a paper clip.

I then used DOS16 to WRITE the firmware to the drive.

If you don't have a connectivity kit and are using the Xbox360 to power the drive make sure you have the TV adapter plugged in also.

All I can say is try this out.

Just to add my resolution to this. We purchased a new drive and had the thing up and running within minutes. I would love to find out what the cause of this was since most have said these benq drives are unbrickable. Flashed 20+ with the same setup.
