tried 1.59 and 1.55 and even 1.51 with no luck. Tried the 360 mod disc and no luck. Anyone else running into this? First time I've had an issue with a BenQ

I just got this back from M$ today so it's never been flashed. I'm starting to think it's got a bad board.

Weird thing is I can still save the bin file and try to flash it, just makes me nervous to try it.

I also just received my 360 back from Microsoft with a BenQ drive. I get the same error you have. Your computer is reading the firmware file correctly, however it appears Microsoft is using a larger key now. If you open the firmware file in a hex editor you will see what I mean.

Use the tutorial to get an idea.

I'm still trying to figure out this new key, but I'll keep you updated.

Here is what the key looks like in a hex editor. Normally the key is just one line.

Very weird I thought ms was sending them all back with lite-ons but now this. I'm sure if this is a new feature there will be a work around soon.

this is pretty interesting. i was just chatting with the ops of the firmware, they are aware of it.

If either of you go ahead and do flash it, let us know. I would be interested in the results.

Maybe someone could try to just spoof the firmware to a spare drive. I wouldn't recommend writing to the original.

I think the issue lies with keeping the file 256kb.

Got your message, figured I'd pop in and see what's up. Have you tried going old school and just copy/paste the key in the iXtreme fw using a hex editor? It'd only take a few seconds.

I haven't yet. I guess, what do I need to open the bin file? Says it may be corrupt, so maybe that's not true. I will try this tonight when I get home from work. I am guessing we'll be seeing more of this, so hope to get it fixed.

Yeah, that's definately one I haven't seen before. I just edited an ix16 for the benq and emailed it to you.

Toolbox can detect your key (@ e0c0), but JF won't. So I just copied/pasted the string from e030 to e0c0 in to the ix16 fw. Now JungleFlasher will detect the edited version, with the key reported in the same location as Toolbox does, but yet it won't detect it in your original.

It's worth a shot flashing it and seeing if it works. You got the original to go back to if it doesn't.

And now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if it'd work just reading the original with Toolbox, copying the key, then opening ix16 with Tb and pasting it in. You wouldn't have that entire string, just the key.

LIVE-wise, I'd imagine you'd want the entire string, or course. I'm just wondering if the "short" key would still work?

edit... I should have said to me it's worth a shot. I'd do it myself. But I'm not telling you to do it and not worry about it. Benq's are easily erased and flashed, so I believe it shouldn't be a problem.

But if that console is not yours and the owner is a LIVE user, I'd ask him first. You may want to wait until the ix team releases more info.

I'll do it tonight when I get home. It's my box, so I don't mind. This way hopefully we'll have a fix. Do I just load it as the source and then put the 1.6 as target like usual?

Good news. Just got home and flashed with no problems. Worked like a charm!! Now my question is, can you post a guide so we know how to do this in the future? What hex editor, etc? You are the man!!!
