Can I take my flashed Hitachi 79 drive out and put it into another Xbox 360? I just got the RROD on my 360 yesterday. I want to buy another one and replace the hard drive with mine. I did flash it myself but don't have the resources to flash a new one since I got rid of the computer that I used. Can anyone help with this?

no you can't do that ... the motherboard is linked to the DVD drive via a key... if you put the flashed DVD drive into a different xbox the keys won't match and it won't play any games...

IF it didn't work this way microsoft would have about 10x the number of hacked consoles they do right now... internet shops could just sell pre-flashed drives... imagine if all you had to do was buy a $20 pre-flashed drive off the net, open your console and plug it in... no knowledge or experience required... instant hacked console...

Would still be stupid questions, but the answer would be easier. A simple YES would work. To be honest with ya, you could've just answered NO and been done with it and not explain the process about keys/mb's :) and it would've technically answered thread title.

Thanks Donaldo. Now I will just see what I can do with the RROD problem while I search for a pre-flashed 360. Does anyone know a site where I can get one and not be ripped off? Just don't want to pay for something that doesn't work.

you can put you flashed drive in but it is not plug and play. you will have to pull off you dvd key from your new 360 and reflash you old dive with the new key and then spoof the old drive as what ever make and modle of the new drive is. this will make your new 360 think it is using its drive. make sher to back up your old firmwear tho so if you brike it you can still recover it.

Thanks kabrax. I'm not sure how I can do all of that. If I still had my desktop, I would just flash a new arcade 360 myself. I flashed this one. But I don't. I only have a laptop and I don't want to tear it apart. I don't think it has another sata hook-up anyway. I did find one way to fix the RROD on youtube. Looks like it might work but would like to get some more input on fixing it. Not sure if fixing it will be permanent anyway.
