Ok I followed the "HOW TO backup Wii and GC Games (Better Guide) UPDATE!" (which helped a lot btw)

However, in dvd dumper when I try to backup my games through SD/usb it always gets an error. Can anyone help with this? Its my external HD plugged into my wii. Does it have to be formatted a certain way possibly?

I've just been doing it over wifi but i'm starting to wonder if this is completely safe. And also it goes very slow for me haha. By safe i mean..safe for my wii's laser and safe in general downloading it straight to my comp like that. Don't people get in trouble like that? lol

So my question is..Why can't I backup my games to my HD and is wifi completely safe?

sorry if I sound like a noob guys I just did the softmod and i'm quite new to the wii scene :] but any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

What format is the external HD (Fat32, NTFS etc.)? Wifi should be safe, its not connected over the internet, I believe its FTP therefore theres no chance of getting caught.

There shouldnt be any problems if the drive is formatted to NTFS. FAT32 format doesnt allow any files bigger than 4.3gb and all wii games are bigger, I thought that might be causing the problem. I dont know much about dvd dumper because I've never used it, but I know from past experience that FTP is safe because I used to do it with the original xbox.

You need it formated to FAT16 or FAT32.

When you do it via SD Card or USB device the files are split into pieces and need to be joined using an application (application can be found in the download of the guide you used above).

There have been allot of users that have had issues with the USB device method. WiFi and SD Card methods work the best.

The USB Method can have issues with recognizing USB devices (this the reason for compatibility issues).

However if you still want to use the USB Device then look at the reply I gave in the Guide section for you. I gave another method that you could possibly try out.
