Im going to flash my xbox 360 and I was wondering if its possible to use the xbox 360 power supply while flashing the dvd drive or will it cause microsoft to flag my console.

I have never heard that until now. I'm not sure. I flashed my drive using the 360 for power and I went on Live the day after to get some DLC for Guitar Hero and I didn't get banned.

Yeah where did you read that?! You can flash while powering using the 360 power! That's what most people use anyways. I don't know why people would think that if they used 360 power over a connectivity kit, that it makes it less secure?! Yeah, whoever said that in whatever forum, are a bunch of morons!

Actually I had heard that this could make you more likely to be banned as well.

The reasoning that I had heard was that some people thought the MB would detect that there is no drive connected on powerup and so it would get flagged.

That being said, I used the 360 to power my drive.

I also read he same thing, supposedly in an interview with commodore4ever saying not to use the system to power the 360 when flashing because the system will log changes when it boots eg. no sata plugged in to drive. then when you get on live it sends those logs to microscrape.

something like This It will convert your drives power cable into a molex connector so you can connect a molex cable into it. I plan on using this when I get my new 360 drive that will be dedicated to backing up games.
