Well there are 2 different bans that you can get. You can get an Account Ban, where they ban your gamertag, and you need to make a new one. Then there's a Console Ban which will ban the console from Xbox Live, but you can still use your gamertag on a different system. You can still use your downloads on live, just would have to be on a different system. To backup 360 games you need to use Dual Layer DVD's, preferably Verbatim. You can play on the console just fine, just won't be able to play on Live, if it's banned.
I've gotten a Console Ban once, since I've modded xbox's 3 years ago!

I just want to 100% know the consequences of getting banned before I do it to make sure we are ready to deal with them.
I have read (please tell me if wrong or if there is more to consider):
1. Banned from live, but thats ok because you can get on live using a different account.
2. All data from the banned console won't be read on other consoles, but you can still play games on the console fine.
3. Need to burn games using a Dual Layer Media Burner and on what kinda DVDs? Dual Layer DVD's, preferably Verbatim
4. Can the HD be used on other systems?
Is that all?
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
EDIT
Two Different Kinds of Bans:
1. Account - Gamertag banned from live, must make a new one
2. Console -
If you have the latest stealth mod it you won't get banned. If you have an older mod you may or may not, but if you are 99% of the time, only the actual console is banned, so all you would need is a new 360 and you'd be able to use your old gamertag and all of your user info.

Thanks for the input, but there is still some more I would like to know.
1. The banned console will only write data it alone can understand right? No other systems will be able to understand any data from the banned system.
2. Is the HD still good to use on other systems?
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

I don't really understand this question. once you are banned the only effect is not being able to log into Xbox live. You can still play your games locally.

If you mean removing the HD and using in another system I am not sure.

The hard drive will work fine on other consoles the only effect of being banned is you cannot log onto live

Thanks again for the input.
My concern with the data question is I read on some website that banned consoles will only write or sign data it alone can understand.
Like if you store a game save on a memory card you played on the banned system, other 360s will not be able to read that game save.
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Yeah I don't know why they would say something like that, but that's just a load of BS.
& OB1KANO, just because you have the latest stealth patches, doesn't mean you won't be banned!

I use DVD+R DL, and mine are all Verbatim. Some people use Memorex, but the people I've modded boxes for, have all switch to Verbatim, cause the Memorex don't last long.
You will want to use imgburn, since that is what most people use to burn their games.
For layerbreak, if you have the abgx360 program, and you don't have a .dvd file with your .iso, the program will make the .dvd for you, and it will make the layerbreak!

First of all, you need DVD+R DL, -R DL won't work, has something to do with the layerbreak. I personally prefer Clonecd, but that's just a matter of taste, imgburn should be fine too.

This is so wrong. Burning too slow (forcing the media to be burned with speeds it doesn't support) can be a reason for a coaster (as seen here), this whole "burn slow" thing is a rumor from the days when burners had no buffer underrun protection and so on. I burn my games on Verbatim DVD+R DL at a speed of 8x and had no speed related coaster so far (only had 3 coasters, 2 because I didn't set the layer break and one because I tried burning with XBC and it froze halfway through).
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

Yeah burning speed is your own preference really! I just always use 2.4x, because ever since the 360 was first modded, it was always 2.4x. But again, it's whatever you want really. I've just seen people have bad experiences burning at 4x, sure the games work, but they don't last more then a month for them. So do what you want for that!

First of all, forget these sata to usb addapters, they won't work for flashing. Just get a card like this one if your mainboard doesn't have any sata ports. If it has, try these first, but you might still have to buy the sata card. It's the easiest way with least stress.
Of course the drive also needs a power source, you can buy a connectivity kit for that or simply use your Xbox 360 for power supplies, I go that way.

If the mobo has SATA ports and the power, I can just hook it up into the computer and flash that way right?
How do you hook the DVD ROM Drive up to the computer while still using the xbox 360 as the power supply? You just leave the power plugged in?
How can you tell if its a liteon drive?
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

yeah, leave the power cable connected to the 360 and connect a SATA cable from your PC to your 360.

So it isn't feasible to flash with the 360 DVD ROM Drive in the computer because you have to turn it off and on while flashing right?
How can you tell if its a liteon drive?

You can have both the SATA and power cable connected to the PC, You can convert the 360's dvd drive power cable to a molex connector using something like This

I would recommend opening up the case for each flash, you need to keep it closed to protect the insides of the 360

Yea, and the new firmware versions don't come that often anymore, I had to open my box 3 times in 15 months.
About the burner, any newer one should do just fine, those pioneers were the ones who were best at their times. I use a 116d, but just because I got it for like 10 Euros almost new (about a month old or so) on ebay.

More Questions:
1. Do my steps look correct?
2. Does ABGX v1.0.1 still need the updated .ini file?
3. When using JungleFlasher.0.1.62.Beta, do you still need the 360 DVD ROM Drive to be half open?
4. Is there any kind of performance difference between Internal & External DL DVD Burners?
Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

If you are using your console as the power source when flashing make sure you have the AV cable plugged in aswell or the console may switch itself off and f**k up your flash!! Use jungle flasher or look up 1.6 modification disk!!
