Hi, i have bought a Wii a few days ago and the vendor said its modchip with D2CKEY, it also came with Wii Sports Original..

well the Wii Sports works without any problems, however i tried to burn a few iso that i dled from the net and so far always gives me the "unable to read disc"
i tried only a few different Medias SonyDVD-R / Several Generics DVD-Rs
always burning at 4x (lowest speed from my recorder) tried using ImgBurn / CDBurnerXP / Nero / CloneCD..
so my question is.. was i fooled ad my Wii isnt modchipped? or did i just have bad luck with the medias i tried and should buy different medias ?
i dont really want to open my Wii and check the chip to make sure, so.. is it possible that the medias i bought isnt really compatible with my Wii?
There could be several things that's causing you problems:
1. Its possible you're getting a bad burn. What speed are you writting at? I recommend IMGBurn at 2x which is very optimal for me, I've not made any coasters in almost a year.
2. Are you running alot of programs in the background while burning?
Theres alot of resource hogs out there such as antivirus software, utorrent, literally just about anything could be taking resources away from your burn causing it to cause errors on the disk if it bottoms out for brief moments. To gurantee a good burn, make sure to shut down stuff you don't need running while burning, this will not only help in that process but make sure your pc is running as smoothly as possible.
3. Have you not ran ANY backups at all yet?
4. This is may go over your head a little but in March of 08, they released a new version of the wii D2C2 but were still labeled with GC2-D2C. It caused alot of confusion for alot of people when it came to ordering modchips and materials to perform the mods. Depending on when that wii was built will depend on if you have the wrong chip or not, if you have the newer wii's you need a D2Pro, which is different from the modchip you stated.
5. Last but not least, you may have to open the wii or have someone open it for you and confirm there is in fact a modchip in it. And then you'll need to confirm its the correct chip for your chipset. THEN you will need to make sure it was modded correctly and has good contacts with the soldering pads.. Do you know the people who sold it to you? Was it a store or just a local guy selling "modded" wii's? Give us a few more details and we can try our best to assist you more. I've attached a picture of what you'll be looking for when you open it up.
This is a D2Pro hardmodded with wires, but you get the point, you will either see this or a clip which connects to the controller chip.
