...if I flash my 360 and then connect to live?

SOrry for the n00bish question, and if it's been answered anywhere else. I have tried several searches as well as just reading thrugh he forum including the stickies and maybe I missed something, but I can't seem to find a defintive answer to the question. So if I flash my Xbox 360 DVD drive to play backups will it be detected on Live and will I then get console banned?

you can't find a definitive answer cause there is no definitive answer....

will just flashing it get you banned ?? prob not ... playing backup games that are improperly stealthed probably will.. played leaked games before they are released probably will...

you will know for sure when the ban waves start and your console says you got banned... then it is definitive.

The best way to avoid it seems to be

Make sure you're up to date on the latest firmware
Make sure you're backups are verified and stealth patched via ABGX
Do not play games before their release date

No one really knows how Microsoft goes about detecting these things so there's no real way to tell you how not to get banned. These methods make things a little safer but definitely not ban-proof. I think the last ban wave came around the release of Gears of War 2, which had people playing it weeks before it came out which resulted in them getting banned.

So I think the answer to your question is that you will be safe for now if you flash the drive and get on. I've never heard of a banning immediately after flashing.

Also its best to check here often. I check here everyday. As soon as there are bannings people here will let you know. That way maybe you can stay offline and hopefully miss getting banned.

I flashed my 360 then got on Live the very next day and downloaded some DLC for Guitar Hero and I didn't get banned.

Hey, I just wanted to thank the people who've replied so far for their answers. At least now I know it wasn't just me and their isn't a *defintitive* answer. Your advice about bannage is appreciated and I'll take heed. Cheers.
