Is it me or did this game take a turn for the worse? Are you not able to change the controls to use the buttons for punching anymore? I use to like to use the joystick for haymakers only. Oh well it looks like I'm gonna have to master UFC instead. What are your thoughts of the FNR4 Demo?

Ever since I played Skate, I've been using the joystick for punching. I Haven t played the demo, Fight Night is boring compared to UFC but i still might give it a rent.

I have to disagree with this. MMA takes skill and you use more then one art. Most fighters are very respectful after the fights unlike boxing. Just my two cents

lol yeah that was pretty harsh. but I agree about the fight night comment. I never liked using the analog stick to punch. It just always seemed too hard to be truly accurate when trying to throw a particular punch. With the buttons I could always find the punch I wanted/needed at the precise moment. Also, I hate how they changed the pace of the fighting, seems way to fast to me. on the demo in three rounds I hit the guy like 300 times and did not get gassed wich seems ridiculous to me. Maybe they are looking for a more arcadey feel?

I wasnt trying to call the sport of boxing boring or say that MMA is any better than boxing, I was just comparing the 2 games.

About the joystick, i find it hard to switch which side my fighter throws a punch from while using the joystick.

@ metalguy, I couldn't agree with you more. I think I'll stick to Fight Night Round 3 instead as it seems to have more realism in the style of gameplay. As far as boxing vs. UFC, and this is just an opinion, I still prefer a good paperview boxing match over a UFC match but if anyone saw that last fight between Rashad Evans and Lyoto "the dragon" Machita I'll have to say that was a good match and I surely wouldnt call that just thuggish brute fighting. Lyota is a beast!

Been playing with the analog sticks since they introduced it back in Fight Night 2004. A good analog player will beat a good button player everyday since they also weakened the punches with the button configs.

Haven't played the demo yet. I don't want to spoil the moment I guess, but I guarantee every button masher on FNR3 will absolutely hate this game as they will get their turbo button controller asses kicked in FNR4.

Boxing has been on the decline for decades now. Different generation of people now. What ever you like, but I still perfer Boxing. And UFC is no mma. It's wild no skill fighting.

For people who like UFC, Please turn to ESPN Classic and study up on classic boxing fights.

have you seen the ufc in the last 5 years . compare the ufc of now to the ufc of the 90s before the fertita brothers bought it and they added rules to the fights and got sanctioned by the gaming commision which hadnt happened cause it was really street fighting in a cage. now it is a lot different.

SIGH. To each their own I guess. If you prefer boxing that is your right but to say MMA takes no skill is ludicrous.

@ps2menace you make a good point. I beat all my friends when it comes to Fight Night but I tried going online with it once where your forced to use the sticks and got my butt whooped! Maybe I'll work on polishing my stick controls and give it another go when the full version is out.

Mixed martial arts does take skill. The difference however is that top boxers are masters of their discipline whereas most top mixed martial artists may be skilled in a variety of martial arts but not exactly a master in any particular one. There are of course MMA fighters who are masters of a particular discipline though (ie. BJJ World Champions like B.J Penn, Roger Gracie and Jacare, Former K-1/kicking world champions like Semmy Schilt, Judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii, Combat Sambo Champions like Fedor, Former NCAA or olympic wrestling champions like Brock Lesnar, etc.) But you can easily be a world champion in MMA without being a top competitor in a particular martial art. ie. Georges St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida (unless he was a karate world champion). For eg. Anderson Silva may have excellent Muay Thai for MMA but if he fought professional Muay Thai, he would get creamed after he moves beyond a certain point in the ladder.

seems like you're a boxing fan trying to hold on to a sport that is completely on it's way out and are pretty bitter about it. even at the height of boxing it was so corrupt it was a joke.

if you think it's harder to master a sport where you can only punch opposed to punching, kicking and grappling... you're probably going to tell me that mini-golf is a true skill sport while regular golf is just a brute strength sport.

Played the demo, couldn't help it.. I gotta say it's going to take a little getting used to as moving around the ring isn't as easy as before.

Boxing seems to be coming back up now with the welterweight division and middleweight division. I'm just sick of fighters not wanting to take a fight unless it's for 20 million and then retiring 50 times a year. I'm looking at your Mr. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

I hope he wins and then Manny knocks his butt out. Then again, I've lost enough money on Pretty Boy Floyd to not bet against him.

If its not broke don't try to fix it and thats what I knew they were going to do because the guy who was in charge of this left.

I can understand them thinking that speeding up the tempo of the fight would give you the feeling of a real match but they really needed to be a little more tighter on the animations and controls. I felt like I was throwing sissy punches the bone crush feeling is gone.

I was not a button masher I used analog and counters was my specialty and I couldn't even pull them off like I used to and couldn't land the way I used to either.

I like the corner idea I like collision detection feels more realistic but once again if its not broke don't try and fix it. They tried to rebuild the game rather then build off of the other game and continue to work on giving you a better experience.

This sucks finally get mike tyson and they screw it up ><
