Im new to the xbox 360 modding scene but I know computers really well and I think its finally time to mod my 360. Ive been reading on this forum and others for the past few hours and I learned that a new firmware is out, ixtreme 1.6 . Does this firmware, assuming the 360 drive is hooked up to my computer, allow me to use the 360s dvd drive to rip a game to my computer? I really dont want to go out and buy one of those samsung drives with the kreon firmware. Also, whats the best program to use to rip 360 games? Thanks in advance!
Yeah thats exactly what it does but you need to have your drive connected to your pc via sata and in vendor mode. One of the most popular programs is xbox_backup_creator.
But honestly a Kreon drive is the best way to go, if you have a spare slot in your pc case you can just pop it in and its always available and cheap, saves having to open up your 360 just to backup games.
I curently have an X Box with 1.41 firmware on it. I sent it off the a company to do it on my behalf and paid them a pretty penny but it works fine only problem being the new wave 3 games do not work on my machine.
Iv done a bit of research and managed to piece together parts of how it all works but have no real computer experience and could do with it all being simplified a bit.
Iv found out that I need the new ixtrem 1.6 firmware and that I have a benqdvd drive.
From my understanding I need to remove the dvd drive from the x box and plug it into a pc? from here im totally lost.
Hope you guys can help in relation to:
1- How easy is the process of flashing an x box could someone like me with very little experience?
2- What is required for the process?
3- Is there a step by step guide preferably with pics (video)
you need a computer that has SATA ports on the motherboard or you can buy a pci card that has sata. Just open the xbox take the dvd drive out connect it to SATA 0 port.
Download Jungle flasher and install the port i/o drivers then just open jungle flasher and Choose "Benq unlock" this option works with stock and 1.4 ixtreme. Then "read" firmware it will ask to save, do so.. then it will open up the ixtreme 1.6 (copy your drive key to the ixtreme or just choose spoof to target) then just go back and choose "write" once it verifies it wrote the firmware choose "send outro device" then your done.
its pretty simple and there is guides all over youtube.
As for ripping your own games, The kreon drive is the easiest way so you dont have to keep opening your 360. Just use Xbox backup creator and you got a backup in 10 mins.
