i keep getting this error and ive already tried two different types of dvds sony accucore 1-16x and maxell 1-16x i havent found a vible reason why i get this ive alos tried various isos and still no dice what am i doing wrong i installed backup launcher gamma by wiigator on a 4.0 so then i downgraded to 3.3 i know its using ios 249 and i had installed it and still nada does anyone what i need to do

If you had read any of the 100s of post on burning you would see that consensus is Verbatim or TY DVD-R at 1/2 the rated burning speed.

Some have indicated success with other brands (I have found limited success with Ritek F01).

I believe that you can cross Sony and Maxell off of your list. At this point it appears that you can't even determine if it's your mod or your burns. You need to have one known working quantity (someone elses's working burn on your system or one of your burns on someone else's working system) to figure this out quickly.

I'm using Sony DVD+R on mine and my friends and they work perfect. He kept on getting the 324 error when he was using Memorex. Also I am burning at max speed using IMG Burn and it is fine for me. I would suggest trying different media until you find one that works.

I am also having this issue and at a lost as how I can get my back ups to read. I even switched to DVD-R and I still get the same error. The only thing that I can think of is I skipped this part of the "New Improved soft mod guide":

cIOS38_rev13:

This new cIOS will install over the old cIOS36 revisions. Wii USB Hardware devices and Guitar Hero instruments should now work.

1) Launch the Homebrew Channel via the Wii channel menu. Select cIOS38_rev13 This will start the installer. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Choose IOS249 for the IOS to use during instilation.

You have 2 options on how to install the cIOS files (you do not need to do both options!)...

a) WAD Installation: You will need to Google IOS38-64-v3610.wad and download it. Then place it in the root of the SD Card. Then chose WAD Installation option.

or

b) Network Installation: At the instillation option screen press RIGHT 1 time on the D-pad of the Wiimote. This will download the files via WiFi.

After you have selected the option you want and installed the cIOS your Wii should reboot to the Wii Channel men

I can't get cIOS38_rev13 intsaller to show in the home brew channel. Please please can someone help.

If you skipped installing cIOS, then that's a problem. It is cIOS specifically that enables backups to be read.

If you can't get the cIOS installer to show in the homebrew channel then you need to:
Make a folder in your apps folder called cIOS Installer (or whatever you want, it doesn't matter)
In that folder put the file you extracted from the cIOS13 zip.
Rename whatever it is (cIOS38_rev13b-Installer.dol or whatever) to boot.dol

If they used my SoftmodPack then it should show up.

There are 5 applications and only 4 will show up on the first page. Hit the arrow on the right hand side in the HBC menu and make sure it isn't listed on the second page.

Trust me I looked and looked and I it was not there. I'm not saying your lying but I've been at this for 4 days and I don't see it.

Nope. Performed the cIOS38_rev13 step and same error. Should I say f*%# it and just stick with the USB loader?

I had this same error and i was using memorex dvds and i switched to maxwell and it work perfect everytime

i seem to have fixed the problem it was that i was just burning the iso it seems that you have to set them to ios 249 ive tried a couple of dvds and they seem to wrk just change it with ios patcher and update blocker and your set
