could someone tell me what i need to do to play roms with sd-card on a wii...a untouched wii....if its possible..thanks for any help

I am almost 99% sure this is not possible. You either need a Hardmod or Softmod (HBC) to do it.

ok thanx for that...new to the wii thing,which is best to have done,i have been using it on the net,been told if i have it messed with you cant use it on the net.....giz a clue

Whoever said that is wrong.
You can softmod or hardmod it and still go online.
If you want more info on how to softmod then go HERE.
If you do not want to do all of steps in the above guide and only want HBC so you can boot emulators then let me know what firmware your Wii is on so I can help you with installing it.

It isn't hard.
And as Larry said, if all you want to do is play ROMs all you need is the homebrew channel.
It's so easy now that you don't even need the Twilight Hack anymore.
And as Dailun said, you won't be banned for going online with a softmodded console.
It definitely is an Xbox issue as Xbox Box Live has security.
It is true that some people have been "banned" for using cheats in Mario Kart Wii online but just having a softmodded console won't get you banned from anything.

Wait, softmodded ROMs? We are talking about SNES and Genesis ROMs for use with emulators right? If you are talking about actual Wii games (iso would be a better term than rom) then yes it's true that a backup disc ran through a soft modded Wii is limitted to 3x speed down from the original 6x. However the USB loader is even faster than the original 6x.

Somebody told you wrong. Same thing happened when people first started softmodding xbox 1's. Everyone with a modchip was saying how much better theirs was and it's complete BS. There's pros and cons to everything but there is absolutely no reason that I can see anymore to buy a wii modchip.
