My DVD burner died and I'm looking for a drive that works well with back ups, no tweaking necessary. Please recommend.

any dual layer will work, but many prefer pioneer. i have a 112d which is discontinued but i believe the 116d is its predecessor.

Samsung SH-S223Q (SB-03 Firmware) and never had a dirty disc error/coaster. Used Verbatim (Made in Singapore) at 4x.

I have a DVR-108 (IDE). If you have SATA, you can grab the 216, one of their newest and only runs about $40 tops

-10000000000000000 for pioneer. had the 111d and it crapped out after 50ish burns. have a samsung sh drive (similar to the one suggested already in here) and it hasnt failed on a single 360 burn (200+) or dvd burn (300+).
