I haven't had any luck with my ICH7. I haven't messed around with my BIOS settings so I'm not quite for sure.

You may as well try it and see. Worst scenario is that you will need to buy the SATA Card. Let us know how you get on.

Probably not too much use, but I've successfully used a ich8r chipset to flash mine.

It would only work with 2 of the ports though using dos flash.

Could not use windows as I have my sata ports set to achi mode in the bios(Not IDE legacy), so had to change them to IDE mode and boot into dos (windows wont load if you try to boot in that mode)

I also used an intel chipset - ich10r

There's a good chance yours will work if both mine and FrostyBK's did.

Can't hurt to try and see!

I would personally save yourself the headache and get a 6421 card.

...or you could just try it, see if it works and potentially save yourself some cash

go to your bios and change it to IDE legacy mode (might be called something different. like compatible.) and don't be an idiot and buy a via sata. waste of your time and money.

Waste of money? This is pretty funny. How is it a waste of money? Without it, it won't work. Also for people like me that flash drives every week it's worth it. $15? wow, big deal. That chipset you have won't work on all drives either. Don't come crying when it doesn't work.
