in that case, theres gonna be a fault with the box...one of the caps will prob be blown or faulty...open the box cover and have a peep around at the white caps..if something looks bent or blackened, you may need to replace the cap...available at maplins for around £0.35...or maybe im wrong,so im sure some one else will prob give you some easier fix..gd luck

put the later file on your box the 1.09

are you using a full 21 pin scart both ends

and i would suggest you try a new scart lead as that is the only thing that can be the problem

thought 1.09 was for eireland i normally use 1.07 on my own box the scarts cannot be the problem as this problem originated at somebody else's house my box works fine on my tv its just this other box that has no sound whasoever

you can use either it dont matter the 1.09 was a fix for the scanning issue and other stuff as well

as i have suggested i would try another scart or is it possible the tv is on mute and not the box on mute try both

Have you pressed the 'audio' button on the remote
This will bring up a list of soundtrack to pick from

Most channels carry at least two soundtrack. One is English and the second is English + narration. If the later is selected but not available on the channel you are watching, then you will not receive ANY sound

The BBC 'red button' (ETV) channels are a good example
