because 3.2/3.3 is the golden firmware. everything just works.

but i have no problems with 4.0. as long as i can use usb loader and boot2 bootmii, i'm set.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Most everything works on 4.0 now.

The only thing I can think of is starfall. Pretty much all other hacks can be installed.

I haven't upgraded because everything I want/need is working, and have no plans to upgrade until I start losing functionality. As they say, let sleeping dogs lie!

why do I not want to update?

1. I've read my wii emulation disc wont work anymore.
2. I've read certain discs wont work,(if they're trucha signed or something)
3. I dont want to have to run a soft mod.

I have D2Ckey 3.2U. If i update to 4.0 will I have to do anything else to get ALL my games to work??? Please advise.

I considered upgrading to Ver 4.0 so I could take advantage of the new SD features. Really that is the only reason I wanted the update. During my research at the time I discovered USB loaders. I went and bought a HD to try it out and it worked. So I concluded that unlimited HD space is far more valuable than a dinky SD card. My computer side kicks in and says if it isnt broke dont fix it. I figured I was very happy with the results so I left it like it was. On ver 3.3U (Oct23 patched)

So then the 4.0 update is not going to further benifit me at all. My Wii is doing exactly what I want it to. Since I have it all working then what is the point in the upgrade other than to get a number 4 show up when you go to WII settings. That is about the only improvement I can see Ver 4 doing for me so I never upgraded.Unless there is an absolute need to do so I probaly will not ever update since it is working well with me now.

Why upgrade to a version that does have widely reported problems in the HB scene. There is no telling what future problems it may cause. Those such problems I would much rather read about than experience.

Updating to 4.0 is simple and pretty much anything will work on it.

emulation disc should work.

trucha signed is compatible if you run the IOS Downgrader.

Soon games will require 4.0 firmware. I think there are some games that already require it VC/WiiWare.

I see more users with issues on lower firmware then 4.0 firmware. The only reason users have issues on 4.0 firmware is because they don't install stuff right.

I upgraded to 4.0 about 3 weeks ago for two reasons.

One was to play wiiware/VC from the SD card (works perfectly)
Second was to ensure when next 4.0 games come out I'm ready for them.

all good things must come to a end

that is why i did the update . sooner or later the update will have to be done . so i figured i would take the leap and do it now and just get it over with . thus far all games work for me as i updated to 4.0u . i m burning to -r discs and currently have around 60 playable games that work problem free with the 4.0u update .

NAH its not going to come to an end. Before V4 we were told there were other exploits. At that time we only had Twilite. V4 proved that they were telling the truth. The code has been blown wide open. The only way Nintendo can beat it is come out with a new system. But then it may not take long for that one to be gotten into. Seeing that all current systems have been figured out is another indication this will not come to an end.

He doesn't mean softmodding/hardmodding will come to an end. He means that sooner or later you will need to update to 4.0 and using firmware below will come to an end.

As I said most everything will work fine on 4.0 firmware. I have 4.0U with BootMii, Preloader .29, cIOSCorp and all IOS are downgraded for trucha exploit and have had no issues.

I also wouldn't put it pass Nintendo to make it a whole lot harder to homebrew with newer Wii consoles.

I wouldn't be surprised if I eventually heard, man I got one of those black Wiis. http://wii.ign.com/articles/991/991429p1.html If I try to install the Homebrew Channel using the Smash Bros exploit a message comes up that says
"You are trying to install the homebrew channel using the Smash Bros exploit. We will not allow you to do this. Also we are now downloading extra security to your machine, do not try to turn off your machine as backup power has been activated, have a nice day" and then the console spits out your SD card

Ok maybe not but if LU64 consoles are any indication, Nintendo can fight too.
