i have a softmodded wii 3.4 and was wondering if it was safe to just update online or if there is a safe way to update and can i play online with a soft mod and do i have to update before it will let me online thanx

If you have Homebrew Channel and cIOS36_rev8 or higher then you can update to 4.0 using the normal Wii update.

Then go HERE and install IOS60PATCH and if you want the trucha bug exploit fixed run IOS Downgrader.

You only need to follow the IOS60PATCH and IOS Downgrade sections of the guide.

By remembering what cIOS36 you installed when originally doing your softmod.

Just find a cIOS36_rev8 or higher installer and make sure a high enough cIOS has been installed.

the thing that concerns me is i dont no what cios36 i have, all i know is that i have 3.4.e softmod with HB channel and gamma 0.3 backup loader and at bottom it says ios249. is this ok to go ahead and run update

Doesn't matter, just install rev 8 or higher and you'll be fine. You can install over existing ones.

It patches all ISO so trucha signed disc can run. Newer firmware updates will block them from working. IOS Downgrader will patch the ISO's so they work again.

can i just install cios38rev12 instead of cios36rev10 and update to 4.0
