Hii need some help i looked at a lot of tuts on the net about flashing my samsung 360 DVD drive from iXtreme 1.4 to 1.6 but they all assumed prior knowledge, knowledge I don't have. The tuts weren't not clear about the hardware i'm spposed to use(A VIA 6421A PCI card). My fiend flashed his 360 using only a SATA cable so i wanted to know if all I need to flash is a SATA cable.

Visit http://www.jungleflasher.net or use the tutorial linked in my signature.

Basically you will do the following.

Get the drive in vendor mode.
Read the firwmare.
Spoof your infomation to iXtreme 1.6 (JF will do that for you).
Write the firmware.

Yes, a S-ATA cable is required to flash the drive.

If your onboard S-ATA does not work. Then you will need to purchase a S-ATA PCI Card with the VIA 6421 chipset.

Would an e-SATA work in this case?

I haven't ever had a chance to use e-SATA to flash. I'm guessing you would need to purchase a cable with e-SATA on one end and S-ATA on the other.

Hello,

I'm having a problem after my Samsung Ms 25 drive gets into vendor mode. The program hangs when reading Bank Zero.....then does nothing. Any ideas?
