My 360 is banned. Before it was banned, I downloaded the media playback update, so I could watch avi's from cd's and streaming from my computer.
I made the mistake of installing the new dashboard (2.0.7371.0), which apparently has deleted my media playback update (I get the status code: 51-C00DF236 when trying to playback avi).
Obviously, I can't get the media playback update again - as my console is banned. Any ideas?!?!
Streaming the video shouldn't be a problem because it doesn't require a codec. The avi update was only for watching divx/xvid from external harddrives or other media, had nothing to do with streaming. Get the newest version of TVersity and try again.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
The error message you are getting does mean you are trying to play a divx / xvid .avi file. As per my recent reply Here,
Originally posted by miketrev: Easiest way to do this AFAIK would be to put your harddrive / mem card in another xbox 360 > Sign in to your gamer profile > Attempt to play xvid and you will get update request > once updated put harddrive / memcard back in banned xbox and voila!
I'm pretty sure that doesn't work miketrev. I downloaded the media update on my 360 last year, then my 360 had to be replaced. When I attached my hard drive to the new console, I couldn't watch DivX encoded movies unless I was connected to Xbox Live (which obviously the OP can't do if he's banned). I had to delete the media update and download it again, then it worked, so it must be tied to the console with DRM in a similar way that XBLA games and most DLC are.
