Either test the disc out in a different console or do a POT calibration on the laser. I bet you after you do the POT calibration you'll have like 5 working copies of UFC.

So it turns out, new games, such as UFC will not work unless a firmware update is done.

I got it done today and the games works.

What firmware did you update to? 1.51? I'm having the a problem with UFC too. Burned the game, it starts up to the "press start" screen. I press start and it just sits there still playing the music. Please let me know.

iXtreme 1.51 is the most up-to-date firmware for Hitachi right now. Does the drive sound like it is trying to read the game. If it sits there and struggles, I still think you need to increase the laser strength. It is having trouble reading through the dye on the disc.
