I bought it with a software installed already called Disc Launcher. The thing is it launches some games, but some games will remain static/at a black screen, and other will give an error. It would be much appreciated if you could help. I read the other topics and the complaints from multiple users confused me as to what I should be doing. Much thanks to anyone that takes the time to help me out.

I said I checked that out and it confused me. Can't someone summarize the gist of it? Some people are saying upgrading to 4 ruins your Wii. The topic says otherwise. Hence confusing. Someone help out with something that's not a link to a thread I've obviously seen. Thanks.

not sure what confuses you or you dont even read the guide what kimballs forwarded you? no brick will result, only brick is when you upgrade using different procedure (used to be 2 procedure). doing a regular update via nintendo will be safe.

if not sure what cios just upgrade to cios8 or what ever the latest and there's no way to tell what cios you have ,so best bet read the guide and figure it out where and how to load the files.

captured from the the procedure:
-----------
"IF YOUR WII IS 3.4 OR BELOW AND ALREADY SOFTMODED (with cIOS36_rev8 or higher and homebrew channel) ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS UPDATE TO 4.0 USING THE NINTENDO SERVERS (how you normaly would update). THEN INSTALL THE IOS60PATCH UNDER THE EXTRA STEPS SECTION! IF YOU WANT THE TRUCHA BUG FIXED THEN RUN IOS DOWNGRADER UNDER THE EXTRA STEPS SECTION!! "
-------------
no other procedure, and this is the only path to safely upgrade your hack Wii.

You are using the disk channel loader or wiigator as you have mentioned in the 1st, you should also have homebrew channel installed.

Yeah I bought the Wii and it can already play some backups but not all. There is a second disc channel that runs the games but there is no homebrew channel. That's why I'm confused as to what I should be doing. Should I download the latest Wii update? Or should I just run the programs mentioned in the other thread? Really, much much thanks.

you don't have this?

then the seller might have remove it..you need to re install the homebrew if you don't. otherwise if you upgrade to 4.0 your hack will be non functional and you have to start all over.

Nope I don't have it!

And my system is not updating!? (giving an error)

I feel like I've been sold a botched Wii (also, I tried to run the downgrader thing without updating the Wii and it just froze)

Help!

are you connected to the network? make sure that your wii is connected. Can you go to Weather Channel?

How do run downgrader if you don't have homebrew channel?

I'm running the DowngraderIOS35.dol from a FAT-formatted SD card, but it just freezes (probably because the system is not updated). The Weather Channel is working fine, and so is the connection (you can test it). Anyone know what might be the issue? Sorry about all these posts.

so you are running the bannerbomb? that was not clear to me. Can you try this guide?

Also try changing your network connection to static (manual setup).

It somehow worked on its own and the wiiloader didn't freeze. However, it froze at the end and didn't quit on its own, so I had to power off before going in. I now have Homebrew Channel and another one (disc launcher I think). However, I have two weather channels and two other same channels. How do I get rid of them?

btw, when I install cMIOS_rev3, no wiigator gamecube launcher appears on the wii channels menu like mentioned. Why could that be? Gamecube backup support would be great.

Well the version says 4.0u. Is a semi brick dangerous or can I solve the issue. Or is it nothing altogether. Thanks for sticking with me on this.

That's good to know. But I'm still wondering why it didn't work. Did I ruin the install somehow? Should I start a clean install (format the Wii memory then start all over?)? Thanks.

errr, I know I'm annoying, but I checked out threads about the program for removing wii duplicates and there are files for PAL, JAP, and US. What do I do if I have a Korean Wii? <3

That should work, you did not even tried playing backup gamecube using the backup launcher,As far as semi brick just ignore and move those channel all the way to the end. no harm done..google if you don't know how to move channel. Also suprises me, how the hell did you go to 3.2u to 4.u which did not even mentioned?

I can't believe I messed up a system that's hard to brick. I don't get how it says 4.0U when it's Korean. Did the seller change its region? Does that mean I can use the US software that deletes duplicates? Or do I risk bricking the whole thing.

P.S. If I format the Wii, will it change back to Korean? How do I change it back to US? MUCH MUCH THANKS for anyone who solves this problem for me.

THANKS AGAIN! I'm just afraid that this is the reason that some games are still not running (Super Mario Galaxy just gives a black screen after a green flash).

originally it was korean so the seller run hack and change it US, thats why it was 3.2u, deleting or formating the Wii memory will not remove or restore to korean, it just remove custom channels.

when you upgraded to 4.0u the Wii will delete upgrade those 2 channels(if US) ,since those channels where korean it just ignore and install the new 2 USA channels.

so those extra duplicate channel are not custom it will stay there. As far as the removal tools , i have not used so i can't give you an answer.
