There is a flood of old posts and outdated information on this topic so please don't flame for not searching.

Is it possible yet to play isos/backups from a portable hdd on xbox 360....aka no DL DVD?

NO and never will be. You will have to flash your drive and burn.

Yes, even if it's modded. If what you are asking is possible we would all be dancing in the street on saving hundreds of dollars on blank dvd dl's.

Att his time this is not possible, perhaps some time in the distant future when a new console is released and Microsoft lets things "leak" for this one.

i wouldn't say that, if you have looked at the E3 news, they are coming out with games on demand, which are saved to the hdd, and ran from the hdd, all without ever having a disc. I would say it is safe to assume the 360 modding world will soon be greatly changing.

I agree with homesick, it could be possible here soon. Since M$ is planning on allowing users to download games straight from the net to the 360 and play them from the harddrive without any disk.
True, I'm sure they'll need to be digitally signed or something. However, I'm sure that could be easily circumvented somehow.

how long has 360 had downloadable content on live that cant be transferred from one system to another. They are ganna have all the on-demand content digitally sighned and I dont THINK anyone will get it hacked. Did any1 ever get that copy of GTA4 Lost And Damned that was floating around the net to work on their box ???

I cant find any info on this being possible, if you have a link please post. Remember 360 game backups were available for download long before it was possible to play them.

Installation:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1, connect your xbox360 HDD to your pc with a HDD Connectivity kit
or unpack your HDD case and use a simple sata cable.

2, turn on your pc and boot a windowsXP (only works with winXP!).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3, run "Xplorer360_09b6_20gb.exe" or "Xplorer360_09b6__60.120gb.exe" depending
on which size of HDD you have.

4, choose Drive -> Open -> Harddrive or Memcard... option.

5, after it loaded choose particion 3.

6, open the "Content" directory and inside open the "0000000000000000" directory

7, you have to open all the subdirectories of "0000000000000000" to find the
installed GTA4 files. That directory what you looking for contains lot of

You can find that directory easly if you intall only the GTA4 to the HDD.

8, when you found it you have to MAKE a NEW FOLDER which name is "00000002"
under the GTA4 directory in this case under "545407F2" directory (PICS/1.jpg)

9, then open that new folder , right click on mouse and choose "Add..." option
to add the "B66716ED23BE790FCF1210AB932119501DC7405E54" file.

10, after the copy finished close the programm , and turn off the pc.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11, connect xbox360 hdd to the xbox360.

12, insert GTAIV disc and start the game.
(on the first start you need xbox live connection)

13, then come an update and you have to apply that.

14, restart the game

15, when loading it will checked that a "DLC" has been downloaded. It is ok.

16, Enjoy it ;)
